    O.K,
So I was over at my friend's house yesterday. I told him I was adding all 3 hoenn starters to my Pokemon Team. He said that wiuld be cheating if I used all 3, since he says you're nly supposed to use one.

I WANT to use all 3 starters, or would it be unfair?

Not at all, just slightly.. not that common, I'd guess, due to the fact that you'd had to trade the two others over to your game.
But still, you're supposed to complete that Pokedex too, so you've got to do it anyhow :P

It's only unfair if you're 5 years old and have battles with your friend that would be grossly unfair to them if they're using Staravia and Bibarel while you've got the starter trio.

I would class it as cheating, due to the fact it's not possible to attain all 3 starters during normal gameplay (With the exception of Yellow).

It's hardly gamebreaking however, as IMO there are stronger Grass, Fire and Water types out there than the starter trio.

Ja, it's fair. Why wouldn't it be?
They're really only a fire, water and grass pokemon, if you detract that they're starters, and alot of people try to have Pokemon of those three types on thier teams, no?

    It's perfectly fair,
but because of personal preference I prefer to actually
have no starters on my teams,
because almost everyone seems to have at least one.

Same here, I always release my starter.

However, a long time ago I did trade over the three starters and a beldum to my game right at the beginning.
Yeah, I don't really see a problem with you using all three starters. They're not uber invincincible, and there isn't anything in the game preventing you from doing it.

It's unfair yeah and it's cheating having 3 all starters in the start of the game.

It is in no way unfair...your goal in Pokemon games is to obtain every single one, starter or not. Using all 3 is fine, wouldn't say it necessarily means a overall good team though.

I don't see what's so unfair about it. I mean, it's rare, but look at Ash for an example. xD
Wouldn't they be the same as using another fire/grass/water Pokemon? Not including the dual types.

It's 100% fair, your goal in Pokemon games is to obtain them all, and some Pokemon need to be traded for that, like the pokemon that evolve from trades, and you'll need to trade staters to, so I consider it fair, just not common, even though I do the same in every game I have.

yes it be cheating. Ash has all 3 starters from each region (with the exception of Hoenn and Sinnoh) and he clearly hacks his pokemon

Yes and no. I don't think having normal pokemon
in your team is cheating, but starter pokemon
have some of the top stat averages. Thats the
only reason why I would say your getting a higher
    advantage.

Haha, well, in Yellow you could get all three starters--in fact, they were literally handed to you. I don't think it's something Gamefreak frowns upon.

It's not cheating, since you did a fair trade for them, but you're probably going to breeze through the game.

And is it really any fun if there's no challenge?

    cheating;
    to violate rules or regulations

No. You're getting them fairly. You're just playing in a different way than your friend.

Now if you were using ARs or such, then perhaps that could be considered cheating. But that doesn't seem to be the case. =/

Using all 3 starters is cheating? Wow, this is news to me.

To me, they are nothing more than ordinary Pokemon. As long as you got them legit through trading and not through cheating devices like Ricochet! mentioned, it wouldn't be cheating.

I think your friend is jealous because probably he only has one starter and never bothered to trade for the other two. :/
