a status is normally viewed as a negative, but there are also positive sides to them

for example, a paralyzed pkmn cant be burnt, frozen, poisoned, or put to sleep

Yaaaaaaay! My statused Pkmn cannot be given another status! Seriously, only guts, Quick Fett, Poison heal, Rest-Talk or Facade Pkmn view status as a good thing.

As Matt O said, very few pokes can find a posetive for status unless they go deliberately looking for them. For example, while you are right in saying you cannot be burned, posined ect, you are now crippled with -75% speed and frequent loss-of-turn.

Psycho Shift can also be used to take advantage of a negative status, but still, that's also an extremely rare case; one that almost everyone is knowledgeable of.

I believe Nintendo and Game Freak took the positive aspects of status effects into account when they created the Toxic Orb and Flame Orb.

The only Pokemon that come to mind that have a completely positive effect from a status are Shroomish and Breloom. Their Poison Heal lets them regain HP every turn, and at the same time, they are, as you said, protected from other undesirable status effects. Quick Feet is disabled when Paralyzed. Guts may prevent Burns from reducing Attack, but you still get damaged slightly every turn. Tangled Feet increases your Evasion, but it's useless if you end up hurting yourself anyway. (Not that Confusion or Infatuation apply here, but we're making a point.)

The point is, it's difficult to make a status condition a positive thing. With that said, I think it's okay to close this thread now.

but there are also cheats for instant heals from statuses and confusion without using AR

before you select a move for your pokemon 2 use say SNAP into the mike and it will snap out of it on its next turn

Nice little trick. But I don't buy it and neither should anyone else who looks at this.

Well, uh.. really, that's a bad example of how statuses can be good. Even if you're immune to other inflictions, you're still inflicted, which is bad.

That so-called cheat about yelling into the mic... I've never heard of it, nor any other microphone-based cheats in any DS game. I mean, if sounds input through the microphone affect battle performance of confused Pokemon, then I wouldn't have to worry about my Pokemon beating themselves up if I were talking to someone while playing with my DS close enough to my face.

On behalf of everyone, apologies for being so against your stand on this. While you do have the correct premise that status conditions can be potentially beneficial to certain Pokemon in certain circumstances, your example isn't quite as convincing as it should be. You'll need to give better proof if you're trying to make a point. But it's clear to see that the proof was provided by us, not by you. Using a status to prevent another status; it's just not right.

Lol, and if you shout "Gullible" into the mike, a pictue of an orange appears!

Seriously, what does an obviously fake rumour have to do with this?

Those are all examples of pokes that deliberately look for status- Brellom carries toxic orb as standard and Shifters will go looking for them. The point remains the the rest of the pokemon population will be hindered by status, otherwise status would hold no bearing over any levelof play.

Best be trolling. Stuff like this is pure luck and doesn't work.
    Foul trickery sir.

Seriously, how did this thread get through? This is not only basic knowledge, it's also pretty useless. Duh. If a poke is paralyzed, it can't be burnt. Do you need to exlpain that?

It was moved from D/P/P, sims796. Seriously, I think we all know why I'm locking this. :|
