It's a new TCG and they even have an anime with around 60 episodes released. Has anyone here played it before? If so, what kind of impressions did you get from the game? Basically just discuss Vanguard here.

I'm currently building up Dark Irregulars, Pale Moon, and Dimension Police, and have the two trial decks as well. I'll probably build Bermuda Triangle and Oracle Think Tank once i get the other clans solidified.

Overall, it's pretty fun. Games go pretty fast, but they're slow enough to be able to actually enjoy the games. Each clan has it's respective combo and theme, so it's relatively easy to be able to predict and block combos, especially when a lot of the big abilities and chains trigger off actually hitting.

As far as the two trial decks go, both are pretty well made. Main problems are that the Kagero tends to end up with the Grade 3 9000 Pow Vanguard too much, and Royal Paladins only have one Blaster Blade in the deck. Will probably pick up the Nova Grapplers and OTT trials once they come out too.

The main thing I don't like about the game is that bushiroad's obviously boosting the main character clans and not paying as much attention to the other ones. Luckily Royal and Shadow Paladins, and Kagero are going to stop getting cards come next set, and Granblue is getting some much-needed support. Hopefully Nubatama also becomes playable. There's also a bit that each clan generally has a solidified strategy, and since it's not easy to combine clans, you're pretty much locked into one type of playstyle.

Another thing that interests me is that bushiroad plans to do simultaneous set releases for both English and Japanese versions of the card game starting next set (Late April), and that the rest of English sets will probably catch up by July.

I've been watching the anime as some people may know, and I've taken an interest in the game. I don't have any cards personally since Bushiroad don't seem to distribute where I am, but I have played on an emulator thing and it's pretty fun. At first I wanted to go with Oracle Think Tanks, but they're not exactly suited to my style. But I think something like Nova Grapplers is better for me. I prefer their play style of stand triggers and stuff. Although I've been wanting to try something else like Spike Brothers or Megacolony, which seems to be a better support race than others.

Although I heard there were going to be an upgraded Royal Paladin and Kagero decks, Shining Paladins and something else.

Gold Paladins and Narukami, they were announced at the recent press conference near the beginning of the month. They're basically Aichi's and Kai's new clans for next season. They also touched a bit on plot on why they changed clans (besides to advertise more cards of course).

There's no straight-out bans, but there's a ban on starting vanguards, being Barcgal, for being able to set up Royal Paladins way too well

Other than that, will start picking up English vanguard some more come release of the 3rd set, which'd end up being May I think

I was gonna say that actually. I do think Barcgal deserves the ban on being the starting vanguard seeing as it allows you to ride whatever Paladin onto it and then get Flogal on the field, repeat for Llew which allows you to get Blaster Blade, it's very easy. But yet again, Battleraizer is in the same boat, though not as complex as Barcgal. If I could get my hands on some english cards I would start playing, though I may need to move interstate just to find people who also play this which would be annoying.

As for any play styles I could go with, I'd prefer Nova Grapplers over anything, but I feel maining Royal Paladins with that could work if you focus on stand triggers rather than anything else. But then it's like what Digi said, it's hard to build a multiple race deck.

I'm gonna expand on this a bit as far as why it's just Barcgal and not other moving starting vanguards. First of all, the key point behind Barcgal is that he can do a superior call the turn it gets moved. In addition there is not negative to this ability and the purpose itself is to call Blaster Blade on your turn 1. Seeing as how much Blaster support there is, it got banned for this.

I'm not too sure about Aichi losing his Royal Pally deck. Sure he is moving to Gold Pallies but I dunno, his Avatar is Blaster Blade not some random Gold version.
They actually did mention something regarding that, something about changing clans for the sake of Blaster Blade, which means something's gonna happen with that, possibly in the battle between Ren and Aichi.

I just recently found out about this game, and it seems interesting. Strange question: Is the anime a good way to learn the game? lol

It is, the first game itself is actually a learning game, and the more advanced rules get shown over time. Same goes for some strategies as well.

I watched the first couple episodes and it cleared a bunch of stuff up for me. I have a hard time just reading the rules and picturing it. lol

It's hard at first. Even though I knew the rules, playing it a bit helped me clear up some stuff, like that you're only allowed your draw and damage triggers if the Vanguard is affected, and that passive effects means it has to be done. I didn't like that when I first started playing Oracle Think Tank, but now I know and stuff.

If you're going to imagine it, you have to imagine yourself on the planet Cray with a desserted land or something depending on who you're playing against. Naturally if you're fighting Pale Moon, there'd be a circus. If you're fighting Bermuda Triangle, there'd be a pool of water, and so on. :P
