Various Pokemon Mechanics Questions

I apologize if in depth information about this is posted elsewhere but I haven't found it so I assume it must not exist.


I'm fairly new to the EV/IV concept in the Pokemon games and I've decided I may start working towards building a more powerful team.

However I glanced over at the trade threads everyone has and noticed a lot of people have several Pokemon with completely maxed IVs. My understanding is that getting a Pokemon to have maxed IVs is extremely low and yet people have several Pokemon with their IVs maxed. They also state that they don't accept hacked Pokemon which I thought would be the only way for them to get so many IV maxed Pokemon. So in short, I'm really confused and curious as to how they got so many of these Pokemon.


I also noticed several of these traders have many event Pokemon. I'm aware that certain rare Pokemon can be distributed at events but these people have so many I find it hard to believe they got them in trades because I don't see why someone would trade such a rare Pokemon with someone else. Where are they getting these?


Lastly, I figured that cloning Pokemon was a form of hacking or glitching but I guess I'm wrong according to the trade threads. How are they cloning these Pokemon now?

They RNG their Pokemon, which is explained thoroughly above.

Different people value certain pokemon differently then others. I may have almost no value for say an 10 ANIV (US) pokemon since I have multiple natures on file since I have been doing this for years but somebody else would place I higher value cause they are just starting out. And why would somebody trade something rare? Because usually they receive something rare or what they perceive rare in return for the pokemon they give up. That pokemon then circulates and eventually becomes devalued which is why you see a lot of events. As for where people may obtain these it could be various forums or events attended.

I use Action Replay cloning code to duplicate my pokemon. Or use GTS Trick on DP.

I've read a bit of it now but it's a lot of information and a lot of it doesn't seem to be explained clearly. Not to mention the process seems unique between versions and I see nothing on the 5th gen. games.

Though I didn't know that roaming Pokemon that're made to faint can respawn simply by defeating the Elite Four again.


It looks like a lot of complicated work to get shiny and perfect IV Pokemon.
