Veronica Taylor Article - Interesting info

    Hey peeps. i got the chance to go to the Collectormania Expo at the Manchester Gmex ( collectormaniagmex.co.uk )here in the UK Today and got the chance to meet Veronica taylor and had a good talk with her about the anime etc and got some interesting tidbits. here is the same post i made at sppf.

    Having got back from the expo and having talked to Veronica myself for 20 mins (she was really talkative/friendly/really approachable) I bring little tidbits of information.

    - Information Learned -

    She really enjoys doing May's voice as it's really hyperactive!

    She has only just finished dubbing the 8th movie a few weeks ago.
    and has informed me from what she's been told, that there will be at least 10 movies alltogether.

    It also appears from what she told me that Pokémon USA are possibly going to using different actors that can mimic Veronica and the rest of the cast, thus replacing the ENTIRE cast for the 9th Season as she is unsure of what is happening between 4Kids/Pokémon USA and wether she will be dubbing it or not as she personally feels attached to doing Ash's voice after doing it for so long.

    Pokémon 10th Anniversary ANIME News!

    I was also informed by her that there will be a specially made episode celebrating 10 years of Pokémon in April that she will be dubbing shortly. (No other details are known on this other than it being a special ep)

    Random other information.

    This was during a Q&A session with Sean Schemmel (Goku DBZ, Also Robert and Juan from Pokémon!) and Veronica Taylor
    these are the questions asked to her. (in no particular order!)

    Q. Is this your first time in the UK
    A. the Uk no, but it's my first time to Manchester.

    Q. Who would you have loved to voice from your childhood
    A. Trixie from Speed Racer

    Q. How did you get into doing Anime Voiceovers/Into Voicing Ash
    A. When i moved to New York i met various people whilst doing theatrical work as I trained to be an actor all my life, And also studied voice acting before being offered the part on Pokémon which also helped me to be offered parts for other Anime show's

    Q. What's Your Favourite voice or Phrase that you enjoy saying in the show?
    *note this was done in Ash's voice
    A. I think my favourite saying has to be "Pikachu Buddy, are you ok?"

    Q. Does doing voices like Ash's take a strain on your voice?
    A. I find Ash non vocally phonetic. so no i don't find it a strain on my voice.

    Q. How long does it take you to dub an episode
    A. Do you mean me or an episode as a whole?, *She gave both anyway* I go into the studio between 1 and 6 hours a week and record all the dialouge for the characters I play in 1 session, so i will go and do all of Ash's lines first and then do all of May's, As far as dubbing goes we do about 1 episode a week.

    Q. How did you get to be the voice of Ash?
    A. I happened to see my acting coach and he recommended I apply for the casting call for it after seeing an open cast call for a new cartoon show, and thats basically how i got the job.

    Q. do you like to watch any cartoons/the anime you dub.
    A. I Don't mind watching the show as i don't actually know what happens until i see it on tv as i'm not given any advanced plots or anything as i just go in and read out my dialouge.

    Q. Have you ever done any voice acting for Video games?
    A. I'ts not something i've really done much of, but i have done a bit of voice acting for video games, It's weird actually having to record the lines without seeing the characters but is good when they put all the bits together.

    Q. Do you enjoy/admire other voice actors work?
    A. I don't really envy any other VA's and actually like those that can sink their selfs into a voice.

    during this session Sean Schemmel actually said Veronica is probably the best flap master when it comes to getting the lip sync perfect.

    Following the last question that was asked the talk came to an end and she thanked people for coming

    But yes in all it was a good day and well worth going just to see her alone (there were other cool people i saw there too!) and came away with 2 signed autographs and a photo of her.

    10 movies altogether huh? Does that mean that there will only be 10 seasons of the series as well? Considering how there is usually 1 movie per season.

    I was always wondering if Ash's voice was hard to do for her... I now know the answer.

    I now really can't wait to see that special, it sound like it'll be fun (Anniversary specials usually are).

    I hope getting new voices doesn't really happen. After so long, I've found myself getting really used to the current cast. If it does happen though, it better be perfect voices.

    Yeah, I'd be really sad if they replaced the whole cast. I've just grown so used to them.. and I just love Ash's. But hey, at least we all now we can depend on Pikachu's voice always remaining the same! ^_~

    But that brings an interesting topic... does that mean that all the Pokemon (besides Pika and others that mmay keep the Japanese VA's) sound different too? I mean, the ones that do the PKMN's voices are mostly the cast from the show, so I guess they'd have to get replacements for the PKMN too. Well, at least it should't be TOO hard to mimic the pkmn's voices (i can SO sound like the 3 kanto starters! :D) but they better do a good job!

    They may not do a full cast change. They may just keep Ash's voice or make Veronica just be May's dub voice since she is also a girl like her. Maybe she just be doing both. I mean why stick with something good. I can see them changing the voice though. Seeing that money what make people do things. It may be cheaper to hire a new person to woek for them then paying somebody else from a different dubbing company more money to dub many many episodes. It makes more sense if you think in the evil money way.

    As of 10 movies. I think there will be more. She just be saying things that she was told of and stuff. 4Kids my end up dubbing 10 movies and that all they know. For al we know that their could be 15 but still. She just telling what she knows and she is on 4Kids side of the anime.
     
    What replace the cast they must be mad! they are excellent considering that this is a dub that has dumbed down quite a bit the actors are great as for the fact there may only be 10 seasons well it has been running for 10 years which is a rather unheard of time for a cartoon series let alone an anime so it is not really surprising i am also looking forward to the special it will be interesting to see what they do for it
    PS it has already been stated that they would like to include 500 pokemon and i seriously doubt that they will get to this just two more seasons
     
    an anniversary speacial way cool to be honest i had a feeling that there will be ten movies i hope they keep at least veronica taylor cus i like ash's voice the others i'm not too bothered about but everyones voice changes sooner or later and i think ash is overdue yay veronica keep it up.
     
    Alright! Finally news for the dub of the 8th movie!

    Ten movies? The 9th movie's not out yet in Japan..there's gonna be another one?

    Noooo! No replacing my Sato-chan! I wuv his voice both Jap and English. x.x *cries*
     
    at first i was freaked out when i saw that veronica was the voice of ash in pokemopolis but now im used to it
     
    They should make 10'th movie about how May and Ash officaly become girlfreind and boyfrind;) . Thow that might just be wishful thinking.
     
    Hwaaah. I don't care too much for the series ending in romance or anything, but the series ending? Omg. D= Unacceptable!

    Actually, it had to come some time. XD Well, I don't want to make it sound like I'm believing it'll end anytime soon, but I do hope the movies and episodes will continue in its charm and awesomeneeess.
     
    Good work on getting that interview done you must have had to fight your way through the crowds just to interview Veronica :D

    and ash and may fight so they like each other! also misty only traveled with ash to have bike payback, didnt anybody see the 1st episode of pokemon or pokemon emergency?what about pokemon frontier saga for the japanese?no misty in the frontier saga!dont get me wrong,misty will eventually remember why she traveled with ash and break up as friends.brock is a gym leader so he can have misty

    If that's the case then all the Pokemon at Prof Oak's labratory who were fighting (Bulbasaur the Ambassador) are madly in love.
    And honestly, knowing Pokemon these days, the only ship that's likely happening is Contestshipping. Seriously, is Ash the one giving May roses? Is May the one blushing over Ash? The answer is no.

    Just because they fight doesn't mean they like each other, or at least in that way. If that were the case, then Ash and Misty would pretty much be lovers by now since they fought about 5 times as much as May and Ash ever have. Not to Mention Gary and Ash, they fight with each other too. People fight sometimes to get their way, or to prove a point that the other disagrees with, or for dumb pointless reasons, everybody can with anyone, whether they like them or not.

    Misty traveled with Ash at the start to get her bike back, yes, but the theory that it was just for that was trashed by mid kanto, and she traveled moreso because she was having fun being with Ash and Brock and wanted to keep traveling with them because they ended up becoming very close friends to her. In the Episode "Gotta Catch Ya Later", that became pretty obviouse.

    The Frontier Saga, just because it takes place in Kanto, never ment that she would come back as a full time character, the creators are still too busy with the new cast and their storys... Though just because she isn't in Frontier full time, doesn't means that she'll never come back again, she only took over because her sisters left on a trip... This leaves room for her to return full time whenever the directors feel ready to bring her back.

    Misty breaking off her friendship with Ash just isn't going to happen, and it never will, not without her becoming friends with him again by the end of the episode. This just isn't that type of show. As for the Brock thing, well, its not up to you to say who can and can't be with someone now is it? Its up to the people behind the creation of the anime itself. :P

    P.S. Yes, I'm a Pokeshipper, Contestshipper, Orangeshipper for all who didn't know. But just just because I'm those doesn't mean I hate Advanceshipper, I just find it very unlikely.

    In One of the ban episode's Misty and Brock make out on a beach. The Evolution Solution episode, well at less the ban part's. Ash did walk on them that made Misty mad!! So Misty and Brock are really more for each other. They really should just get rid of Drew, he his pointless any way.

    i wonder what new PoKeMoN they well have in the 10'th Movie? any thout's??

    hehe.. It's been a long time since the last time I've visited here.

    Well anyway, I kinda envy you that you had the chance to talk to Veronica in person. heh.... That kind of stuff won't really happen in my life. I'll end end up being envious, or jealous if worse. XD It's a nice article you got there. ^_~
