That's right, Leon! Those plucky farmers have made their way to the Olympic Stadium as we speak, to see our teams go head-to-head in the fabled Video Games Trivia! Hopefully rescuing Ashley will be that much easier for you now...
Let's get down to business
Each day we will be posting a series of video game questions, ranging across all sorts of topics and challenges and alternating between trivia rounds and music rounds. These will run up to the 28th July, to give us time to close off the event on the last day of the Get-Together. There will only be 10 per round, but we have tailored them to have answers of varying levels of difficulty, to keep those gamer brains ticking with the challenge! In terms of scoring, we will be scoring teams 1 point per correct answer, to go towards an internal event scoreboard. At the end of the event, we will use these points to determine who has placed first and second. GT Points will be divvied out as such:
1st place in Trivia - Gold Medal - 125 points
2nd place in Trivia - Silver Medal - 75 points
1st place in VGM - Gold Medal - 125 points
2nd place in VGM - Silver Medal - 75 points
2nd place in Trivia - Silver Medal - 75 points
1st place in VGM - Gold Medal - 125 points
2nd place in VGM - Silver Medal - 75 points
So teams will have the potential to win 250 points if they ace both events, 150 if they place second in both BUT can actually tie at 200 points if they both win one event, so everything really is to play for!
Each day will CLOSE at 00:00 UTC+1/19:00 EST and start at 01:00 UTC+1/20:00 EST. Anything submitted after the CLOSING TIME will not be counted, it is on you to manage your timezones, not us. This also goes the same for taking note of any answers you do have. We recommend that you put together some form of Google Sheet or Doc to keep track of your answers each day.
This event will be hosted mainly on the Discord server, so it would be advised if you could join there and join in the chat with your teammates. Can answers please be submitted to both myself and Coolkid575. This can be done either via Discord (arcaneum/coolkid575) or a DM on the forums. This just ensures that if one host is not available, the other one will have access to the answers.
However if you are adverse to this, you are more than welcome to contact us here via DM, and we will use your answers to pad out any gaps that the Discord people do not get.
TEAMS WILL ONLY GET ONE CHANCE TO ANSWER!
Achievements
What would a video games event be without Achievements? For those new to the GT, these are just some bonus points you can grab for the team during the event, by satisfying certain criteria. Whichever team gets the Achievement first gets the points and you can get more than one Achievement! See the full list below for this year's Achievements:Top 1[00]% of Rattata - Score 100% in at least 5 rounds - 10 Points
8 Outta 10 Ain't Bad - Have an average score of 80% throughout the whole event - 20 Points
Astral Chain - Get 100% on a trivia and music round back-to-back - 10 Points
Smokin' Sick Style! - Score over 90% for at least 5 rounds in a row - 10 Points
Do You Have a Life? - Obtain 100% correct answers throughout the whole event - 50 Points
Toby Fox - Score 100% in all music rounds - 20 Points
Shigeru Miyamoto - Score 100% in all trivia rounds - 20 Points
Finally...
A few closing notes - in the spirit of the competition, please try not to look up the answers! Use existing knowledge to answer these questions - there's a wide range of games, eras and genres mentioned so that there's something for everyone. You are more than welcome to look up something if you know what it is, but just cannot think of the name. This does NOT mean you can go and listen to every single Final Fantasy track, because it sounds like it 'might' be in a Final Fantasy game. If you have any questions at all regarding how the event is run, don't hesitate to post here, on Discord, or message us.Between us, we have tried to avoid using the same game multiple times in the event, so hopefully we've achieved a good level of variety throughout the event for you.
The event itself is of course competitive but co-operating will net you better results, so make sure to liaise with your team regularly to have a better chance of winning!
And most importantly... kick back, relax, get your game on and have fun!
