Did you know Vileplume is based on the Rafflesia Arnoldii? Vileplume's flower is said to have the largest petals in the world, and the petals of the flower are red and covered with white spots. While the Rafflesia Arnoldii is the largest flower in our world. Female Vileplume may be based on Rafflesia hasseltii, as its petals have distinctively larger blotches than other species of Rafflesia. Really interesting to see where Game Freak gets their Pokemon inspiration from.

I think I realized this a couple years ago, especially since rafflesia are supposed to be a bad smelling flower, which suits the Vileplume line perfectly!

And since this isn't restricted to Third Generation discussion, I'm going to pop this over to Pokemon General for you.

    MOVED.
