i'm really struggling with getting past the ultra stage is there any way i can make it easier i an using a monferno in the cool catagorie , many thanks junior

Practice is never a bad idea,
I also found it helped me to use the control pad or the buttons instead of the touch screen.

I don't pretend to be an expert, but I'll give you some advice going by my own experience.

Firstly, do you have the Red Scarf? There's a man in a house in Pastoria City who will give your Monferno a Red Scarf if it's maxed out in coolness. This ups the number of hearts you get in the visual part.

Well for the visual part, I typed out a heading on Microsoft Word for each theme and typed out all the Accessories you should use under each heading. This makes it quicker and easier to see which Accessories to move your onto your pokemon for each theme.

I arranged the Accessories in their page order and left a space between the Accessories in different pages. I didn't know which page some of the Accessories are in because I don't have them myself so I just put them on the end in a group.


For the dancing part, all I can really say is that you have to practice in order to get better. I also recommend that you use the buttons rather than the touch screen because it's easier, like Blue Gyarados already said.


For the acting part, I don't know what moves your Monferno knows. I'll try to give some advice but I'm not sure if it will be any good to you.

I never use moves that take any risk, I just don't think it's worth it most of the time. I'm a big user of the moves where you get +2 for first/final performance and other safe moves like that. Don't use moves where you get +2 if the voltage goes up if you're the final performer because someone might well prevent the voltage from rising any higher on the judge you went to. I'm also a fan of using a move to make you go first next turn and then a move which makes the voltage go up 2 instead of just one because you've got more of a chance of getting the crowd excited when you think it might be time in two turns. Basically, I just flannelled my way through it and most of the time I come out first or second place in this part (my best part being dancing ^_^). There is rather a lot of luck involved in this part, just to warn you, so I always try to do my best in the previous parts just in case.

Anyway, I hope that helped a bit ^_^

EDIT: Just to warn you, master rank is a lot more difficult. Don't be surprised if you can't get more hearts than the other pokemon even though you've already done everything you can to make your pokemon have as many hearts as possible.

Hehe no problem :D I love doing the contests anyway so I completed master rank in all of them lol.
I used Farfetch'd for cool, Dewgong for beauty, Lickitung for cute, Croagunk for smart and Geodude for tough.

Guess what. I'm stuck on Master Rank beauty with my Manaphy. Oh such a failure I am. Ah well. At least it's... legitimate!

On topic, everything Lady Nicole and Blue_Gyarados said is highly accurate. My advice, on a more pessimistic note, is this: If you try, and try, and try, over and over again, then it might be time to raise up a different Pokemon for the contest. Preferably one that likes dry food, which is a big help.

For example, my Jynx, which clinched Master Rank with Psych Up and Ice Punch.

Therefore, I always use a move that doubles the next round's score. (Tail Glow, Calm Mind, AncientPower, etc.)
Then if I go first, I use a move that gets +2 if used first. Otherwise, I use something that always gets +3. It usually works pretty well.
