Well thanks to Durial's fat wallet and bountiful generosity I now have Volume 28 of PokeSpe ready to distribute! Please read my new thread "Official Manga Mailing List Thread" for more details. However, this is more than just an advertisement folks; Aegis wouldn't please if it weren't. I would like to pose a question to you all while the thought is fresh in my mind: Should I continue the mailing list?

    Reasons why I ask
    1) Disgruntled scanlators (I feel ya Ryan)
    2) Do people prefer scanlations or scans?
    3) Are you willing to give out a valid email adress or sign-up for Yuwie?

Let me know what you think.

Durial is indeed awesome =D I can read Volume 28 in Chuang Yi version and compare with Chinese Version one. Anyway, what do you mean by Disgruntled scanlators?

I mean that scanlators often do their work only to have feel that it was thankless and unnecessary. Usually this comes from people being impatient and someone scanning the volume once the official version is released. Personally, it is a rough job and impatient readers can piss you off, but scanlations are better than nothing and often lead to people sharing actual scans if available; take the scanlation project some off us at the beginning of the year. We maybe got through 3 or 4 chapters before people started flooding the forums with scan; we even got serebii's attention although not in a good way.

I'm getting off track though. Basically, I just wanted to know whether people would use the mailing list and want scans from me or if they prefered scanlations and didn't want to be bothered to play by my rules; not that their very strict I think. Considering all the feedback I've received over the past fews days, I think the answer is clear: I'm here to stay for quite awhile.

If you want to do, that's fine with me. More benefits for the people who can't find the scans cause of legality issues... but meh those legality issues. (or they just don't have money but love the manga).

Scanlators are fine, but you're right, they do get useless once the official release is scanned. (I usually think scanlators should be people who can work fast and I've seen some series which scanlators were able to translate as soon as the next part of the series is actually released). If you guys can't scan-late in a matter of days, might as well give up the scanlating job, am I right?

(I just got Volume 27 thanks to a friend, and hopefully I'll get Volume 28 by next year at least, so I really don't need to join the mailing list anymore). I think the Philippines is quite up to date with Chuang-Yi's releases and we really don't have to wait for a year or so... just a few months after Chuang-Yi releases a volume. I just have to list down the bookstores that are actually updated and don't overprice the manga. Fully Booked is one example.

I'm willing to give out an email address. When I was scanlating, I didn't feel like it was thankless.
Your mailing list is a brilliant idea. Please continue it.
