Anyways...I wasn't fooled by Yellow concealing her gender, I always thought she was a bit too gentle to be a boy, she wasn't hot-blooded like any boys I know that're in the manga...eh, besides Ruby, but...
You know. I really think having spoiler before reading is not good, but I still read them :DI knew the Yellow spoiler two years before I started reading the manga. My friend is a huge yellow fan, so she told me about Yellow and Specialshipping before I knew what the manga was about.
Yellow's a girl, you know it when they're in teh island in like volume nine, practically everyone had a hint about it...except Red who was the only one clueless enough to think he was a boy
Because maybe she thought that if she told him, their friendship would change and Red would see her differently and not trust her. Thats my opinion at least.

Yellow probably thought that since she kept it hidden that she should keep it that way until it became really ovious and that since Red was the only one who didn't know at that point she thought that he would freak-out if he found out which, in her defense(spoiler alert) he did.

There were cases where both an older girl or a woman diguised as a boy or a man in both fiction and real life and people was unable to detect that they were female until they got injuried badly or became very sick.You might be able to use that logic, but seriously, if she had waited until it was blatantly obvious, it would have been just as freaky. Point is at first Yellow passed as a boy so that people wouldn't start treating her nice cause they thought she was a girl also they would've attacked her more if they knew that. Then when every thing was over as a lot of people said Red had already forgotten about meeting her two years earlier and was already convinced so Yellow didn't told him anything till like a year later when Gold made Yellow take off her hat in front of everyone.
