In explorers of sky, when you climb sky peak and look at the scenery, a shooting star flies by.

It's animation is EXACTLY the same as the meteor's from mystery dungeon 1.

Is it the meteor that Rayquaza later destroyed?

    I honestly don't think so .

Or maybe it is as Nintendo wants to remember PMD veterans of the old BRT and RRT days...

    Maybe it's really a flashback...
Or it's because Rayquaza was relocated from highest place in game xD

Perhaps as your character reaches to the top, the meteor is about to hit Pokémon Square simultaneously, tying the two events together...

Or perhaps something else, I don't know. Maybe the Kecleon Brothers have super speed and can be at two places at once, or maybe it's just a reference to the first Dungeon game.

I havent played the originals so I wouldnt know but my guess is that it is nintendos of showing the past of pmd games. That or they just used that small clip from the old pmd game because they couldnt think of any other clip to make/use with it.

It is extremely common to reuse animations, because they are very time consuming to make. If you check youtube, there are some good examples of disney doing just that. I don't think it has any significance personally.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with all of you.
First of all, PMD 1 and PMD 2, 3 are set in different worlds.

About the falling star, it's probably just a shooting star, and it only
has one purpose- wishing something for it.
