    Hey all,

I'm having some trouble. I plan on making a walk-through for SoulSilver, then for White when I get it. I have all the right recording stuff to get my walkthrough going; however, there's one problem. I can't decide whether or not to do a live narration or an after-narration.

A 'live narration' is me talking while I'm playing the game. (live reactions and such) It's great so the viewers can be right there with me as I do things.

An after narration is recording the video without me talking, then putting it in an editing software and narrate it from there. It's not live reaction, but I can always cut and paste speech to filter out the miscellaneous stuff.

So I'm torn between the two. Would you rather have someone in a walkthrough be right there with you in the action, or a more straightforward, efficient walkthrough?

    Thanks for your opinions.

From most of the walkthroughs I have seen of YouTube (HG/SS), I'm pretty sure they usually do an after narration to have a detailed and concrete walkthrough which is the reason behind it. But most of them are boring to watch, specially when they include the battle scenes or a long and lame video intro, it's just a waste of time in my opinion.

I don't know if you have seen the Platinum video walkthrough from Marriland. But I really enjoyed watching this walkthrough, the guy made it pretty entertaining and he added some commentary to make the videos more "alive". I don't remember correctly but most of this walkthrough was a live narration. It's the best video walkthrough of Pokémon I have seen so far.

In my opinion, a great video walkthrough is just not covering every detailed of the game, but also to entertain its viewers. Like you said, it would be nice if you could do some live narration and then edit some parts that you find unnecessary and add important details of the game.

This sounds like something you should just ask your friends. Might as well give my opinion while I'm here. I'd go ahead and record the narration while filming because it's not entertaining when I watch someone who does post-commentary. You don't get the same reactions, like if your opponent lands a critical. You foresee it when you commentate afterwards. Anyway, it's really up to you.

    Locked.
