    So for my Art 3 class, we had to choose a theme to go with war, and how it relates to war. I chose addiction. Through research, I found that during war, soldiers will fight off, or simply escape the pain that results from war events with addictions, in this case...drugs. The way I showed this is I drew a soldier smoking, and the smoke he's exhaling embracing images of war. The smoke symbolizes the escape or almost like the vanishing of the horrifying images, and the suffering soldiers go through during war. The soldier's smoking to try and forget about the pain, and the feelings it brings him thinking about what's he's seen during the serving of his country. I found through research, they want to erase their past/present, and be anywhere but where they are, and so they go into an altered state of mind with the help of mad dankz. On a final note, hope you enjoy my drawing! =]
     
    Wow, the idea is really wonderful. I love how the smoke symbolizes freedom, (right?). I think it's really creative, and I like the style of your drawing. What medium did you use?

    No, it symbolizes the vanishing of the thoughts he has when being in war. And the medium is colored pencil.
     
    Ok, what the heck guys? 45 have viewed this and only 3 comments, 2 of which are mine...why can't you guys take the time to write a short 25 letter message what you think about it? I worked really hard on this, and would like a few opinion on how it turned out. That's all I'm asking.
     
    Indeed, a fine job. Personally I would have chosen a different color for the smoke, but it is really not the point of the piece.
