IN OLD GAMES THE GAME USUALLY GETS DELETED IF YOU CATCH A VIRUS LIKE MISSINGNO OR OTHER VIRUSES.IN MY CRYSTAL POKEMON VERSION I JUST WANTED TO PICK UP SOME POKEMON FROM MY PC AND SOME KINGDRA'S APPEARED.THE SCREEN WAS FILLED WITH JAPANESE-STRANGE THINGS AND WHEN I RESTARTED THE SAVE FILE WAS LOST!.....

Im going to explain this predicament now. Old games, from 2nd gen and previous, run off of internal batteries inside the cartridge when it comes to saving. Since these games were made back in 2000 they've long expired. This means save files often run out. Fore more info on buying replacements go here for compatable batteries.

As for the glitches, I have no idea. I myself used to sell clones of pokemon at school and did it hundreds of times on both versions, so I dont think it's that.

Thankfully, all of my old games have no problems.

I did do the Missing No. cheat in Red and it screwed up my Hall of Fame, and now I've done the Mew glitch, but no harm done.

So I'm good.

i think that when you complete 150 hours or so, your game is mostly to get deleted.i don't remember how many hours i have completed in my sapphire so i can't tell you exactly

A) This isnt 3rd gen, I have no idea why you said that
B) No its nothing to do with the clock, why would nintendo deliberately make your game reset?
C) I already explained the problem, i dont see why anyone would post irrational ideas that don't make sense.

My japanese Gold version doesn't save anymore. I think that's because a certain set of games has defective batteries within the cartridge that keep the memory intact that way.

Can't be sure though. It definitely wasn't a glitch though.

Yes my gold and silver both died on me a few years ago. Silver was my best game too, I was really bummed. It was not by a glitch though.

Nah never happened to me, I can see all the glitches I was with an Emulator, if your looking for it go search Emulator Zone in google and pick Visual Boy Advance

I used an Xploderlite cartridge (basically an AR) and in a while my game was deleted. Glad about that, though, as there were WAYYYY to many Ho-ohs that i could handle.. lol.

I had my Silver game get deleted because of internal battery troubles, but as luck would have it I managed to have a battery like the one in it laying around. So a little elbow grease and electrical tape later and I'm playing my Silver religiously again.

6 years ago, blue or red dont remember exactly. i had almost complete pokedex, then the game was deleated. i was crying (hahah)

Once upon a time I had a Blue Version with a bunch of Monster Brain'd Pokemon. It also had a lot of my strong ones I raised. One day after playing Pokemon Stadium with it, the game had died. It was a very sad day indeed. Internal battery failure. Oddly enough, my red still works great, and I got it first.

Then, about two years ago, my gold suffered a similar fate. Sucks because I had a lot of shinies on it. |:

Now all I've got are my new blue version and my Red, which has some of the Pokes I preserved from old-blue.

As for glitches? My Charmeleon in my blue acts as if it's a traded Pokemon for some reason, and it was my starter.

I got pretty far in Red then some guy that hates me at school pulled it out of my gameboy while it was running...then later my save was gone...apparently pulling it out without first shutting down deletes saves?
it was kinda sad, I had a lv56 Charizard and everything *cries* well im over it, it was a few years ago

I used that code that resets the time on my Silver version, but I never bothered to set it again. Since the clock isn't draining the internal battery I am safe for now. I have played over 600 hours on my Silver version (in one playthough), I really wanna find a way to back up my save data.

I have a thing kinda like an AR cept it works on Gold and Silver where you can edit any pokemon and get anything in your bag that you want

its got its own backup feature too :)
I havent used it in years I wonder if the backups I made are still on it

Well, it's never happened to me but to my friend? YEAH.

Her lv. 100 Charizard was gone, and I had to sit there and trade all my good pokes from my silver to her new silver, and all she gave me was the crappy starter pokes (levels 4,5,6,7) but I didn't yell at her.

My blue version got messed up, but it's fine now. Only my crystal and gold are bad. The gold won't save, and crystal's time is loco. (weird)
