Yes, I know that there are many threads just like this, but this is a totally different thing. This is a PowerPoint that my Religious Studies teacher sent me. It tells you the minor signs of the Day of Judgment. By the way, the Day of Judgment is, according to Islam, the day where all of humanity will be judged for what they have done on Earth.

The point of this thread is to show that religion is actually real and true. It is also to try and prove to people who think all the religion stuff is false that religion can sometimes be correct and, in the case of Islam, completely true.

Of course religion is real. It's an idea, and that makes it real. Whether it's true or not is of course very controversial.

My thoughts: (type of illogicalnessnessness)

War and Terror: Of course war and terror are going to become more common. There's more and more people in the world and of course they're going to fight. (manipulating facts)

Wars and Disasters: Of course this stuff happens. It's happened since the dawn of time, and will continue to. (hasty conclusions)

Earthquakes: Everything moves towards disorder, never to order, therefore all of this bad stuff will increase in frequency as time goes on. (hasty conclusions)

Poverty: Of course this is going to happen. More people means more resources needed, and the number of resources are either depleting or staying the same. (manipulating facts)

Collapse of Moral Values: I don't really need to say anything on this.

Rejection of Religion: People will question stuff.

Imitating non-muslims: Religious slandering/propaganda.

Don't care: More people, less resources, etc. Inevitable.

Literacy will increase: Umm.. wtf. Did that guy REALLY say that?

Fast and Close: Technological advancements, etc.

Complete bunk in my opinion. Just another interpretation of some dead guy's prophecy.

I don't believe in any gods and I don't want to convince anyone of my opinion. Its just mine.
I say, the bible is astrology.
and I don't know much about the islam. But you shouldn't try to convince people. you can explain what you opinion is and why, but people have their own. If they want to believe, then they can. But never say 'you have to'.

and for the earthquakes...thats natural, the plates were the continents are on are moving...I can not really explain it in english...

-Like penguin said, the world is getting overpopulated. Too many people in too small a space and you will get fighting.

-If world war 1 was a sign, isn't the last day a bit overdue?

-Wow, he foresaw that at some undefined point in the future, a city would be destroyed by an earthquake. That's really not that special.

-Earthquakes are only frequent along plate boundaries. Plus, they were always frequent there. We just notice it more now because of improved communications etc.

-poverty - wow, he knows that rich people don't like sharing. That's normally how they became rich. Plus, more people means more poor people. Kinda obvious.

-Adultery - so the slide talks about adultery and the picture is AIDS? even though the two things aren't actually related?

-Homosexuality - that's been around for donkey's years. Ever heard of Sodom?

-So as knowledge improves, religion becomes less prevalent. See, that's true even if religion is wrong, so it kinda fails as an argument.

-Unlawfullness - seriously, times have been worse than this. Dark Ages, anyone?

-So, as time progresses, Mosques become less popular? Like I said, increased knowledge decreases the prevalence of religion, so this is a no-brainer.

-"People will distrust one who is trustworthy, and trust one who is treacherous" This isn't a recent
phenomenon. People have been trusting the wrong guys for centuries.

-Literacy.........as time progresses, humanity becomes smarter. I'm tempted to say "duh" here.

-Time hasn't started moving faster...so that's just weird.

-As time progresses, umans become more knowledgable. As Humans become more knowledgable, they find faster ways to travel. That's not a prophecy. It's logic.

-The telephone was invented a century ago. So yeah, this "sign" is a bit out of date.

Your 'last day' proofs span across about a century... last time i checked a day was 24 hours long.

Oh and heres a few things I noticed:

- Earthquakes have been happening forever, so just no.

- Adultery has gone from being widely accepted in the middle ages to illegal today... so that slide can be disregarded.

-As time passes people will become more intelligent. This is another favourite of mine. So people get more intelligent over time and your basing your theory for the end of the world on the word of a guy who lived hundreds of years ago? Good work!

So in conclusion, I just haven't been convinced by this wonderful powerpoint I'm afraid.

Sure, this is a hypothesis, but the evidence is rather lacking (literacy?! W.T.F.). Sure, overpopulation and a third world war are likely, but COME ON. Get some more valid evidence. (I'm bashing the author of the powerpoint, not you).

Also, in general, everyone knows that the [insert race/great prophet here] SUPPOSEDLY saw into the future and "predicted" the end of the world in 2012. What were their methods? Are they scientificly just? Are they backed by substantial, valid evidence? Also, if there really IS the end of the world, don't you think that there wouldn't be anything that mankind would do about it? Let time take its course. Nobody is really a seer, and if they really think they are... then they have issues.

Just think about it- You create a species, and everywhere you hear "god loves you",
then WHY in the world would he come down from the heavens and destroy us just to see if we lived?

There have been many judgement day scares (I still got Y2K candles! Great for power-outages :3). I really don't think god would be that unforgiving.

Lord Gaga, I just want to say that I totally respect your religious persuasion, and that whatever anyone believes, I am fine with them believing that.

However, my own personally view is that there are a great many ways in which the religions of the Levant (Christianity, Judaism, Islam) have a lot wrong.

Many Christians are always talking about a judgement day- specifically, one that is imminent, and the explains the urgency of evangelicals. What is interesting is that the epistles, many of which say that judgement will come in the lifetime of those who are alive while the author is writing, were written in the first and second centuries.

But here are the main things I don't agree with the abrahamic faiths on:

- The idea that God is a person; I believe that God is conscious - more conscious than what we even think of conscious as being. But to anthropomorphize God allows us to conceptualize God - which, to me, is actually a bad thing, because I believe God is that ultimate ground of being which goes beyond conceptualization, words, or knowledge. To ascribe a form to God is to ignore that.

- The separation of things into ontological categories. To these religions, things can be either good or bad in the eyes of the universe. In addition, God is not one with the universe, but, as the creator of the universe, is in a separate "world", just as someone who has made a sculpture is separate from their work. I believe what Heraclitus said: "To men, some things are good and some bad, but to God, all is good and just". In addition, I believe that God (pure consciousness) is one with the universe, encompassing and going beyond it. I don't believe in creation in the traditional sense; rather, I believe in being becoming - that is, God coming into the experience of life as we know it.

- Literalism. The belief that the content of scripture is referring to historical fact rather than being a metaphor. This totally negates the real purpose of religion, which is the purpose of mythology; that is, to allow one to find a place for themselves in the universe. In reality, many people don't need a religion for this - whatever they enjoy doing the most will naturally lead them to it. The idea that the importance of Jesus is as God's son who will come again at a certain time is, as Joseph Campbell said, "an absolute clown's act". Jesus is a symbol for the one (any one) who discovers eternity; the one whose ego dies after a great struggle and comes back from the struggle with an expansion of consciousness.

Arguments against and for religion are always going to go on. As long as the human race has religion we are going to argue pointlessly about every insignificant detail about it.

Anyway there is no way to prove without a shadow of a doubt that Religion is real, while on the other hand you can't prove without a shadow of a doubt it isn't. There are always going to be people trying to prove it with either factual or logical evidence. While there are always going to be scientists or professors disproving it with factual or logical evidence.

The end of the world will not come for a long time. The end of the world will come billions of years from now when the sun implodes. But by that time the human race will have either gone extinct or evolved to such a degree that we are fish or reptiles in the sand smaller then cockroaches. The "end of the world" To a human standpoint will only happen due to humans themselves. Not because of how we sin or that god wills it. Because human beings can't stop pointlessly arguing or take things for granted. Our own emotions and traits we all have will eventually cause the downfall of the human race. It is inevitable, the only thing we can change is when it happens

Uh, no. That isn't what I said. Just because they are signs, doesn't mean they are bad things. I never said that people were murdering the earth because they drove cars or something. I'm just saying that the day is coming closer when these signs are happening. Some people are so narrow minded.

^ This basically. You can't prove that any of these predictions are accurate, and many of their meanings are vaguely established. You're strictly interpreting a source that can be interpreted in many different ways, so why is the way you interpret it the absolute truth? You're basically trying to force your beliefs on others by insisting that what you believe is true...

Anyway, like I said, these statements can be interpreted in many different ways. Just because you can make a few vague connections doesn't mean it's the truth.

Saying, "It will rain tomorrow!" everyday and then there is one doesn't mean you're right. Sure you got it right once but does that make your word infallible?
