What’s it like working for the Pokemon Company?

    I've always wondered what it's like to work for The Pokemon Company. Their London office seems super elusive, with no general enquiries contact details to be found online through which work experience could be enquired about.

    Have any of you worked for the company, or know anybody who has? Are all the office chairs replaced with Snorlax beanbags? Is the first interview question "which gym leader do you identify with most closely?"? I'm so keen to know this shit - like is it the meeting place for Pokemon fans who were lucky enough to fall into jobs there, or is it literally "just another office" with some random Pikachu figurines dotted about the place and another Karen in finance?

    I can't speak for the UK or Japan HQ's, but Pokemon's HQ in the US just outside of Seattle is in a mega office building, with no indication whatsoever that the Pokemon Company was there. Granted, they share a building with companies like Microsoft and Valve, but they aren't even listed as one of the major tenants of the building. The only reason I know all of this is because I thought it would be fun to see where it was last time I was in Seattle, and did a bit of research before realizing that it wouldn't be worth my time going out of my way to look at it.

    And again, only speaking about the US HQ, but your second description is a little closer to what the inside of the building looks like (found some pictures of it here). Can't say I'm all that surprised, but disappointing that it isn't a little more colorful and... Pokemon-ish.

    BTW, I'm going to move this over to our Pokemon General section, as it's a discussion about the franchise as a whole, not just the games.

    Creating alien creatures that actually benefit from battling each other seems like an overall interesting job to me.

    Those people probably find a lot of comfort in this kind of job I would think :)

    Pokemon can give a sense of hope in a world like this thats just crazy but pokemon's like another world where things somehow work out along side the way humans naturally are better.

    .......I really wish pokemon were real :/ It could be the one thing to help end a lot of world problems for all we know.

    But at least theres the hope and sense of wonder it can give as a fictional franchise still.

    Anyone who's working on these games, is lucky. I bet they are happy people :) At least a lot of them are i'm sure!

    EDIT: And, yes, i know theres evil teams in pokemon, too......that world has its issues as well o_O;;;

    Still seems more ideal than this one though.
