Well I don't go there too much, but when I'm in need of some ribbons for specific reasons [such as to get into the Resort Area's Massage Building], I do go there. Dr. Footstep mostly tells me what my pokémon think about me like always, and most of the time my pokémon like me as I usually walk around and give poffins to them and he gives me the Footprint Ribbon.
However, as some pokémon don't walk on ground, I have experienced Dr. Footstep saying how he couldn't read the footstep. I found it quite strange the first time I experienced that, but then I got to realize of course this pokémon levitates and such things like that.
I do believe it's a nice way to get ribbons on your pokémon, and it's a somewhat feature I don't mind having in the game.
