Well most of the rivals in pokemon games where ok compared to the main trainers like for instance:

R/B/Y your rival was pretty standard im ahead of u yet u always beat me type

G/S/C your rival was actually more like a villan stilling pokes and stuff

R/S/E your rival was kinda different and hard to enplane

D/P/PT your rival was funny expectational how the other people saw him as he would run around fining you millions of poke dollars for being slow

yep rivals are cool but i pick the main trainer

in Plat, the Dawn and Barry looked better than Lucas, but Dawn looked better than Barry.

Silver is just so awesome, but i really like Golds sprite. i really dont care about the girl x3

In my opinion they always look better then the rival, they look more 'trainer-ish'

I think Wally looks better than Brendan in Gen III tbh he looked pretty cool, but generally the rivals are a bit too plain.
