No, they must be Metapod and Kakuna only with Harden, this way, you can use them only as a shield while you recover the others. It's harder this way :P

IMO, Delibird has zero usefull characteristics, with the exception of being able to learn Ice moves. It has terrible stats, and is just an awful pokemon, plain and simple.

Plusle and Minun are pretty bad too.

I'm voting for Unown and Luvdisc. Male Combee are pretty high up on that list as well.

Others like the cocoons and Magikarp at least evolve into stronger, better Pokemon. The three above suck and they don't get any stronger.
