What do you think of nuclear power?

Nuclear power is the future. It's clean, renewable, and perfectly safe if under competent supervision. Just because Chernobyl and Three-Mile-Island had accidents doesn't mean every potential nuclear power plant will have one, especially since the technology is better and better understood these days. :P

Simply put, nuclear power is a necessity, and again simply put, you're completely ignorant if you're against it.

If you're going to use Chernobyl as an argument, get out. That happened in the Soviet Union, whose technology was extremely less-safe than ours, as well as employees who were extremely poorly-trained compared to ours. For example, the operators knew that the conditions of the reactor were unfavorable for the test they were going to run, but they ran it anyways.

Three Mile Island was over 30 years ago now, and is also out of date compared to modern technology.

Today, nuclear power is everywhere. Navy ships/submarines, cargo ships, all run on nuclear power. NC State has a reactor on campus. Nuclear powered satellites have been launched.

In 30 years (possibly sooner), the world will be on a rush to alternative energy. Nuclear will be the majority of it.

Also Jolene I hope you never vote.

Hmm.. I like nuclear power sometimes, its like you're outmanned, you can just turn into a cockroach and make a nuclear bomb explode. ^^

I would be less against nuclear energy if it weren't for the fact that high-level waste takes thousands of years to get rid of. That's the biggest problem I have with it, the other being that there are still much better sources of energy to use than nuclear.

Actually fossil fuels create more toxic waste than nuclear power. The only difference is, they pump theirs into the atmosphere where it can't kill us, only the planet.

Anyways, I support Nuclear Power. It is one of, if not the most efficient sources of energy. Although nuclear fission is incredibly dangerous, it is still a perfectly viable option in my opinion. Meltdowns are highly uncommon and please don't shout Chernobyl at me, technology is far more advanced than back then and security is tighter. However the main part of my argument is nuclear fusion. Nuclear fusion is far, far safer than fission and still creates (I think) just as much power as fission does.

Hydrogen power is the future though.

For me I rather have the Co2 from coal power plants in the atmosphere then radiation. Science still has NOT been able to have CLEAR proof that GLOBAL WARMING is from Co2 coming from power plants because there are other forms that change the co2 on a regularly such as:
1. The sun:
The sun go's though a 11yr cycle of maximum flares and low flares
2. Ocean currents:
El nino La Nina- Warming and cooling of the oceans and the currents they travel
3. Seasons:
FACT: most of the worlds vegetation is in the northern hemisphere so when the northern hemisphere has a winter season the co2 in the air is less then it would be in the summer.
4. Wind patterns:
Wind is always blowing in directions and changing the temp. of the earth.
5. The Earth's core:
The core is still molten well the inner core is, so it also releases heat.
(Thank you Environment Science Class)

So for me I would rather have power plants, What I would like to see is more Solar and Wind power, also electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

Pretty much I think nuclear power plants make people feel better for always screwing up the earth kinda out of site out of mind idea. People can see the power plant emmissons coming from them, but you can't see the radiation coming out of those power plants.
