    Most people say They either hack FireRed or Emerald, and I know there is more free space in FireRed but more other things like Contests and Frontier in emerald.
    What would you recommend for a beginner hacker?

    FireRed. Definitely FireRed. It gives more freedom and I think it is easier to hack then Emerald. There are more support guides and resources for FireRed. Though it may be a little harder in the beginning.
