what happened to misty's starmie?

misty used her starmie in her gym battle with ash and i remember one time it was using water gun to put out a fire. but then she used it less and less and then never again. did i just miss an episode where she gave it away or something? or has she just forgotten about it in its pokeball?

I believe she left it at Cerulean Gym after the episode "The Misty Mermaid", she also left Horsea there if I recall correctly.
