    ...and it was Chili or Cress who followed Ash through the Unova region? Who would you have preferred out of the three? Would the Best Wishes anime have been better if Chili or Cress followed Ash? Do you think Chili or Cress would have had a completely different personality than Cilan? Do you think it would have influenced your opinion of Chili or Cress? Would the food puns be better or worse? Brainstorm as much as you want about the different possibilities!
     
    Chili's got a fierce personality, Cress is more on the cool side, and Cilan is in-between. If Chili were to accompany Ash, all moments involving him would have been a little overly-dramatic, sort of. xD;; For example, if he'd wound up losing something, he would most likely make a bigger deal out of it than anybody, making it seem very serious even though it may not be. As for Cress, well, his moments would be opposite. If something unusual were to happen, I'd imagine him to keep himself calm and treat it as an everyday thing.
     
    They probably would have been written similarly, though Chili would always butt heads with Ash because they've got like-minded ways of doing things, like they both seem like they would do things without thinking. Cress would probably be pretty mellow and take a role something like Brock.
     
    Chilli cannot chill... he's practically the second Ash... that wouldn't work...
    Cress would be better alternative but he's actually too calm... he couldn't be used in comedy routine...
    So Dent was the best alternative...
    And let's face it... without TEEEEESUTINGU TAIMU, Best Wishes wouldn't be the same.
     
    I could see Chili being a lot like Barry, albeit not as boisterous. I remember a scene from a Decolore episode when Cilan had a flashback of him and his brothers when they were children. Chili was shown with a bandage on his nose and I saw that as a symbol of clumsiness and recklessness.

    Cress seemed to be the most relaxed of the three but he also seems to be the best Trainer. I think that he could've improved BW because he would've been always bringing out the best in Ash by actually showing him techniques and strategies, whereas Cilan was more of a verbal teacher.

    Cilan will always be king of the food puns. Nobody can take that away from him :P
     
    I would prefer Cress, because he is the least high-strung of the brothers. Chili would be all over the place and would be treated like a kid. However we would STILL have to put up with Iris and a horribly retconned Ash, and the bad writing of Vexed Wishes
