I totally agree with Quick_Kid
But also there are probably many more pokemon in the pokedex that have weird species as well...Bidoof just happens to be ONE of them!:D
 
How strange... I'm assuming that the translation was careless, since I doubt that it'd originally be called a mouse by its Japanese creators.

Even Pikachu is not a mouse — it's a pika.
 
None of the mouse pokemon labeled Mouse Pokemon are really even Mouse Pokemon.
 
This doesn't really bother me at all. It doesn't change how I'll play the games or anything so they could name it a tiger for all I care. Not to be rude or anything of course.
 
Dude i say its a beaver with traits of an otter. Nah its a beaver.
 
Its obviously a Beaver, its plump, brown and it evolves in Bibarel.
 
I selected Other because Pokemon are not the same as our animals. They're just based off of them.

Bidoof was based off a beaver, but I guess they either thought he looked like a mouse, or maybe the translating was a bit off.
 
Well, technically, beavers are two primarily nocturnal, semi-aquatic species of rodent. In fact, they were once a highly diverse group of rodents. However, the PokeDex considers Bidoof a "plump mouse". The physical features of beavers are nothing like plump mice. Thus, Bidoof looks nothing like a plump mouse. I think they should change it so it actually makes sense.

All these thoughts and facts are quite good I must say, there should be a theory upon this mystery of Bidoof...lol ':D
 
I always thought it was some sort of beaver since my friends always described it that way. I guess the tail kinda throws it off. I never really paid close attention to Pokédex entries, but I guess after seeing this, I probably ought to.

I can't say that something like this was awkward though. Awkward is something along the lines of "Hey, did you know that Roark was supposed to be a girl?"

"O RLY?"
"YA RLY."
"NO WAI!"
 
Hm, well someone mentioned above that beavers are in the same family as rodents, so even if it was specifically a beaver, it is still fair to call it a mouse or a rodent which would be more correct.
 
yeah its like Rodent translates to mouse with the creators.
 
Because as we all know, the translating is never 100% from the Japanese versions to the English.
Could be done on purpose or it could be unintentional...
Wouldn't it be funny if there was actually a mouse that looked like Bidoof?
 
Beaver, I'd say. After all, it's got those huge teeth, and it evolves into Bibarel, so... I think it's a Beaver. Yep. ^_^

Looks more like a guinea pig to me, it's the right color and has the right appearance.

I really think everyone just needs to calm down though, it's not like they said it was a bird or something ridiculous.
