What do you think it is like inside a pokeball when a pokemon gets captured in one? I have always pondered on this question ever since pokemon came out.
And how in the world do you fit a cargo ship sized Wailord into a 3-inch sphere?!

I think that there is a tiny virtual world inside of the pokeball that is specially designed according to the pokemon caught by the pokeball that the pokemon can run around in, play, and relax in while they are waiting to be released from their pokeball into the real world.

I never gave it much thought...in my own sadistic mind, I imagined that the pokemon is question is in its energy form, perpetually bouncing around the mirrors that line the inside of a pokeball.

    I'd say quite cramped.

Onix + Ball the size of an orange = no.

I think the Pokemon shrink as the person above said because theres no way a Wailord can stay in a ball of that size

    It is a prison
or paradise, depened on what pokemon you ask
also don't you Arceus or some other super powerd legednary would find some way to bust out...

Either a dark void or poke paradise.

exept the luxury ball :) thats the ball everymon wants.

I've always been under the impression that when inside a Pokeball, they were a form of energy, rather than a mini-sized Pokemon. >_> By that, I mean the red energy that pulls them inside to start with. Although, reading the manga would make me think differently, since they actually show the little Pokemon inside the balls. That always seemed a bit cruel to me, though.. in that way, I prefer to think that they're energy while inside. xD; Not just little Pokemon.. stuck in a small, enclosed space for hours.

...Cold and dark...not a very nice place to be...that's why Pokemon are always pissed...first you shove them into a small Pokeball(wailord...lol) then you only take them out to beat the crap out of another pokemon...

Pokemon are converted into information and held as data, just like items in the PC. I seriously doubt that the items are floating around in hyperspace or anything, (an enormous waste of energy) so it's logical that Pokemon are also suspended as little 1s and 0s.

Notice how when the Pokemon enter or leave the ball they take the form of a sort of red aura. The Pokeballs thus dematerialise them, so I don't believe it feels like anything being in a Pokeball, since it digitally decomposes the Pokemon and stores it as a computer would store data to fit it inside.

Mind you this only applies to the anime and presumably also game canons. In PiPiPi Adventures there are no Pokeballs at all.

I would think it's just the Pokemon in the form of energy, honestly most of them don't seem to mind it :p.

Post restriction makes me remove url >_>.

I believe they turn into energy and, if I remember right in on some commentary of the first or third Pokemon movie, the directors comment that they turn into energy while in a pokeball.

So if it is true they turn into energy, time doesn't pass for them and, when they come out again it seem to them like only a second passed but, this is only my theory.

I think there is a whole new world in there
