What is it like inside a Pokeball?

I was always under the impression the were shrunk down and put in a state of suspended animation. I've always tried to decide if it was that or stored as data/energy, but when you think about it, it's practically the same. Although, energy makes more sense because even in suspended animation nutrients would be needed to supply the body so it won't decay.

This is why the Guru thread needs to always be on page 1... this was answered there.

The Pokemon is digitized and its sentience file is inserted into a virtual reality world. The Pokemon knows that it's in a Ball, the same way you know you're in a VR machine. The VR world is customized to reflect the stats of the Pokemon inside (for example, a desert VR area for a Cacturne as opposed to an ocean). Luxury Balls have the same base VR capacity, but with added perks: toys, flashy lights, etc.

Pokemon neither turn into energy nor do they shrink: they are digitized (conversion of matter into computer data). This theory is supported by the presence of the Pokemon Porygon and the Pokemon PC system, which turns both Pokemon and items into data.

One of many posts regarding the explanation here.

You're kinda wrong there.

I always thought they just stood there in the small sphere like in the episode when Misty caught Psyduck, It showed it inside the Pokeball and it was just Psyduck standing there. So i just thought they were shrunk down to that size. =\

I'm not familiar with Pokeballs. Poké Balls, however, are probably fun on a bun.

There's a VR setting inside Pokeballs? Where is your evidence for that?

Super Smash Bros. Melee PokeBall Trophy Description said:
These balls are used to catch and contain wild Pokémon. Most Pokémon must be weakened in some way before they can be caught, but once they're inside a Poké Ball, they enjoy their new home, since Poké Balls contain an environment specially designed for Pokémon comfort. Master Balls are the strongest type.

A digital environment custom made for a digitized Pokemon sounds a lot like VR to me.

Smash Bros. isn't canon and can't be used as reference.

Who do you think supplied the information for the Pokemon trophy descriptions? HAL Laboratory?

I hope its paradise for them. :)

I always assumed they became some sort of energy OR they were shrank down to pokéball size and sort of lay in the foetal position in suspended animation sort of thing.

It is a world full of data, probably the surroundings of the process where Digimon are digivolving...You know, the light blue and black data thing.

Yes. HAL Laboratory wrote the descriptions. They've made mistakes before.

i think they just sit relax and sleep until they fight because look how pikachu didn't want to get in a pokeball.. not a fun place but not a boring place it must be warm cushy and a relaxing ball =D

It probably varies with the kind of pokeball its in. Like if its in a dusk ball, everything is pitch black, or if its in a luxury ball, its like a house full of almost everything. Im guessing the worst one to be in is a normal pokeball because its probably just a room with a bed to sleep on and nothing else. I dont really know, ANYTHING could be in a pokeball.

Pikachu in the club is funny :P

well obvs since all trainers say its time for a good rest i guess being inside a pokeball is comfortable
