what is the best team you could have with out using legendearies

I wouldn't say there necessarily is a 'best team'. However, you should probably look up an Over Used (OU) Pokémon list on smogon.com. That will probably help you quite a bit, and it will provide you with the correct natures, movesets, EV's, and hold items for any competitive Pokémon if that is what you're looking for.

Some of my favorites though are Alakazam, Scizor, Garchomp (although I believe he is considered an Uber now), Metagross, and Snorlax (Curselax). However it is up to you to choose a team.
 
I think he's talking about in game, or else this would be a wrong section thread.
But just get a team of 6 that can cover all 17 types of Pokemon, and can resist them as well.

Infernape
Abomasnow
Drapion
Dragonite

At least that would be mine anyways...
 
Hm, well I still use the Smogon stuff in game. haha. He said 'best', meaning I would think that the 'best' would be found in the OU section. Even if it's applying to the games. But yeah.

Just pick Pokemon that you like, and as Mages4Ever said, make sure it covers a variety of types.
 
I say that try avoid legendaries,they won't make good team (as for me)
And also,use your favourites so you can really enjoy game. <3 Gardevoir!
 
I recommend only using very few pokemon, two or three maybe, that way you have less to concentrate on, meaning you can level up those few pokemon alot quicker than you would if you had a full team of six, it works for me pretty well. But also try not to use hms on them if you do it my way, carry some extra pokemon around just for hms.
 
My team before I completed the league was Garchomp with Dig, Crunch, Dragon Rush and Aerial Ace, a Lucario with Extremespeed, Aura Sphere, Dark Pulse and Dragon Pulse, a Drifblim with Fly, Charge Beam, Shadow Ball and Payback, a Rapidash with Sunny Day, Flamethrower, Agility and Solarbeam, a Raichu with Volt Tackle, Surf, Grass Knot and Focus Punch and a Floatzel with Ice Beam, Waterfall, Iron Tail and Crunch.
 
I'd say:
- Infernape/Empoleon/Torterra (I always keep one of these in my team <3)
- Lucario
- Gallade/Gradevoir
- Luxray
- Chatot (what? It's a good pokémon if evolved properly u.u)
- Mismagius

It may not be really the best, but it's a team worth a try ;D

But just in case he was mistaking Chatot for another Pokemon.

Does Lucario count as a legendary?
 
Isn't it a Pseudo-Ledenary.
I don't think that counts.
 
Yeah he is like diet legendary. Lol. Although I would personally avoid him- he's a tad cliche.
 
Lucario is my most kickass Pokemon I have. Aura Sphere just kills everything in one hit.
 
Just wait til 5th Gen. There'll be a Chatot evolution.
