This is my very first time writing a story and this is going to be a long one. This tells the story of a regular Pokemon Trainer who dreams big and faces lots of obstacles on his journey. He travels from Hoenn to Kalos, then to Alola in a great adventure. I hope you all like it! I might be posting these chapters not very often as for I am very busy. You guys can read the first 2 chapters just to get the gist of it. Enjoy!

    Prologue
I've always wanted to be a Pokemon trainer. I was born and raised in the vast city of Sootopolis. The city had a great history, and an ancient volcano left a huge crater long ago, leaving us to settle inside of it. We were an island located East of the Hoenn mainland. At least that's what I think.
Long staircases crawled up and down throughout the city because the land we built on was so rugged and steep. The land was separated by the large pool of water that's been collected in the center My mom and I live in the outskirts of the West side of the city. Our house was small and a little battered up because it was so old. My mother works in the heart of the city at the Pokemart and checks the inventory everyday. She gets paid very little and is working hard to get the promotion shes been wanting forever. My father on the other hand was a Pokemon researcher. He studied all the different types of Pokemon in the world. But, he lost his life during the dispute between these two "teams" who wanted to bring back the legendary Pokemon, Groudon and Kyogre. Stupid. He was caught right in the middle. I was only a baby when it happened.
My mom would always bring home some void Pokeballs that didn't work, along with some empty Potion bottles. I used to pretend with my plush Pokemon toys as a child. At school I would play outside, pretending as a cool Pokemon, brawling with my friends. The older kids laughed at us as they showed off their team. Combusken, Manectric, Sharpedo, all those cool Pokemon I dreamed of catching and battling with. Tomorrow that will all change, my dreams will come true. Brawn Badel, Pokemon master.

    Chapter 1: The Bad Beginning
Today was the day. I was turning 12 years old. I would be getting my first Pokemon! My mom knew a breeder and was good friends with her because they both grew up together.

"Cassandra promised me that she would give you any Pokemon of your choice, as long as it was one of those first evolution Pokemon. Whatever they're called."

"Ok mom! I can't wait for this!" I thought of all the Pokemon I could get. I knew every Pokemon that was native to Hoenn, thanks to my dads journal. He had lots of journals and traveled to all the regions. He left his Hoenn journal just for me, the other ones were lost in the battle. We walked down the the center of the cit as I thought of all the Pokemon I could get. Treecko, Ralts, Abra, and Aron! This was going to be the best.
I did a little dance as we walked to the front steps of the breeder. I looked a little bit silly, but I didn't care at all. My mind was set on getting the new Pokemon.

"Oh no! I'm going to be late!" My mom exclaimed. She passed over a navy blue bag to me, kissed me, and ran off. I sighed and looked at her as she urgently stumbled down the stairs, deeper into the city. I glanced at my watch and it was 7:57, she started at 8.
I opened the door and walked towards the front desk. Cheerful music quietly played as I rang the bell a few times. I didn't want to be rude, but I wanted to start my adventure. I then realized that I forgot what I was holding in my hand. The bag! I plopped it on the counter and unzipped it. I couldn't believe my eyes. Inside were at least 10 Pokeballs, some Potions, an envelope, and my fathers Pokedex. I grinned as I did another dance.

"This isn't a party young man! What are you doing here?!" a voice shouted at me. Her rusty old voice startled me as I looked up to her. Her small eyes pierced through me as she pointed her knotty finger at me. She looked way older than my mom and I didn't think she was the same age as her. At all.

"Well I came here to get my new Pokemon! It's my birthday and you promised my mom that you would let me choose any one I wanted! You're Cassandra, right? My mom's name is Grace, you should know-

"Ha! You're not going to get away with that kid. I'm not going to give you a Pokemon for free. You either pay or get out! Cassandra is on vacation, and I'M IN CHARGE." she cut me off. Her voice scared me.

    "Well, can you call-"

"NO! Get out before I call the police! I don't deal with greedy little brats like you. You should be ashamed of yourself!" She cut me off again. I was boiling on the inside and wanted to go off at her. But I couldn't. I sluggishly walked outside and sat on the bench that looked out onto the city. I cried a bit and wanted to break something. I tried to cheer myself up and shuffled through my bag to pull out the envelope. I ripped it open and a bright orange and blue ticket slipped out and floated under the bench. I bent over to pick it up and a gust of wind blew it away. Panicked, I watched it float down to the Pokecenter on top of the roof. Today was a horrible day.

    Chapter 2: My New Friend
I sprinted down the steps and took a few turns to end up in front of the store. I saw my mom through the glass window and ran inside, but it was too late, she went in the back and I had no clue how I could get inside without getting into some trouble. I stomped my foot and grunted and walked to the desk.

"Hi. I'm looking for Grace Badel, she keeps the inventory of the store. I'm her son." I grumbled

"Ok! Shes in the back! Here, take the key!" she joyfully said.

"Thanks." I said sarcastically. I walked towards the back door, shoved the key in, and opened the squeaky door. I saw a whole bunch of shelves with boxes stacked up on top of eachother. I guess this was the storage room. "Mom?" I walked in all of the aisles and called her name out. I needed to tell her what had happened. I reached the back of the room and realized that she might've left. Crap.

I walked out of the door and saw a truck pulling out of the driveway. It was mom. I ran after it, but it was too late. I turned back around to go back inside and find a way to the roof. A ladder was right next to the door! I climbed the rusty old ladder and jumped onto the gravel roof. I saw the ticket flapping around, stuck under some blue rock. I kicked away the rock and picked up the ticket. For some reason it was soggy. All of the sudden a stream of water splashed me in my face. I was drenched. I looked around and saw a Lotad angrily looking at me. He was the rock….. His stubby little feet waddled him away, it almost looked like he was limping. I felt bad. I walked towards him and picked him up.
"LOTAAAD" He shot another jet of water at me. I held on to his squirmy little body and climbed down the roof. His leg looked bad. It was all bruised and ugly looking. I was going to take him to the Pokecenter and get him all fixed up. I didn't know much about these Pokemon, they never really showed interest to me. But after all, this was my chance to get a new Pokemon!

    Chapter 3: Breaking the Ice
I walked down the street to the Pokecenter, Lotad still squirming in my arms. He eventually gave up and looked at me with his blank eyes, he was kind of funny looking. Walking into the front doors, all the people around me looked at me and started murmuring. My ears turned red as I heard the comments.

"Ha, that kid has one pathetic Pokemon, no wonder it got hurt." Somebody said.

"What is that thing? Gross." Exclaimed a kid.

"Whatever. He's helpless and I have no other choice." I whispered under my breath. I walked to the front desk and the Nurse Joy greeted me.

"Hello! What's wrong with your Lotad?" she asked

"Oh, he hurt his leg in…..in…. a… uh…battle! He hurt his leg in a battle. That's what happened." I said nervously. I couldn't tell her that I kicked him! I would get in trouble!

"Oh, ok! I'll get him fixed up in no time! Chansey! Bring the stretcher please!" She called.

"Thanks! I'll wait here for a bit" I said as she walked back with him sitting in the stretcher looking at me. He looked like he was almost…happy.

"Hey! You! C'mere," somebody said. His voice was annoying. I turned back to see a kid wearing a blue cap, some shades, and a tank top with the words "Fun in the Sun"staring at me sternly, eating a ice cream cone. He was obviously a tourist. I sighed and turned back around, he was just a kid. "I said come over here! You're stepping on my poncho!" he screamed at me.

"Cut it out!" I screamed. I threw his tiny poncho at him and turned back around. I was already annoyed from the events that happened this morning, and I didn't need more to deal with.

"YOU DO NOT MESS WITH TIMMY! NEVER! BATTLE ME WITH YOUR PATHETIC THING AND I'LL SHOW YOU WHO'S BOSS!" He screamed. I started laughing my head off, he was a kid! What could he do to me?

"Ok." I grinned at him. I thought for a second, I didn't even know what Pokemon he had! I was worried, I should've kept my mouth shut. I was in trouble.
"Ok! He's ready!" The nurse said. He. Huh, my Lotad was a guy! Cool. I grabbed him in my arms and looked at his cheerful face. He rubbed himself against me, I guess he forgives me! Now, it was time to embarrass myself in front of all the watching eyes. How come everybody was here? I turned red as I said

    "I'm ready."

"Looks like you're gonna be here for a while with your stupid Lotad." He tossed a Pokeball out onto the tile floor and out came… a flying ice cream cone? I pulled out my Pokedex and scanned the icy blue Pokemon.

"Trapinch: The Ant Pit Pokemon. Trapinch's nest is a sloped, bowl-like pit dug in sand. This Pokémon patiently waits for prey to tumble down the pit. Its giant jaws have enough strength to crush even boulders."

It was a ground type Pokemon. Lotad was a grass and water Pokemon. This should be easy, out of all the Pokemon he could've had, he chose a ground type!

"Go! Lotad!" I called out. He leaped out of my arms and looked at the Trapinch. It was about a foot taller than him, and its angry, beady eyes glared at Lotad. Lotad hopped towards the Trapinch. All of the sudden the trainer commanded the Pokemon to use a move.

"Trapinch, use Crunch!" The Pokemon leaped at Lotad and chomped onto his leaf. With a cry, Lotad leaped back and hopped up and down, angrily.

"Lotad, use Surf!" A small wave of water was summoned and drowned the Trapinch with its power. I knew all of his moves, thanks to the Pokedex. Soaked, the Trapinch came up and with a command from the kid, he attacked.

"Trapinch! Get up! Use Earthquake!" The ground started to shake as Trapinch stomped around. Lotad wobbled around. Trapinch was about to attack again. "Now! Use Rock Slide!"

"Lotad! Dodge the attack! Quick!" Lotad hopped out of the way as rocks tumbled his way. Pieces of tile flew around the center while Trapinch rolled with the rocks on his side. "Lotad! Use Bubble Beam!" Lotad jumped up and shot a barrage of bubbles. I saw Trapinch struggle to get up, and eventually faint. "Ha! That'll teach you a lesson, kid."

"Ugh. Here." He handed me a fistful of money and walked out. I stepped across the puddles and the cracked tile crunched under my feet as I held Lotad. I had won my first Pokemon battle!

The thing that caught my eye was how Brawn (weird name) started off so hyped just for everything to go wrong. I really like that; I don't think I've seen a story with that kind of setup before. Still, I think that if his mother's childhood friend had gone on vacation, his mother would've know, or Cassandra would've left a note or something of the sort for the old lady. Also, when he was looking for his mother in the store, this like '"Thanks." I said in an unthankful way.' just sounds too...on the nose? I don't know how to describe it. Instead of "an unthankful way," you could've said "dryly," "bitterly," "acerbically," or just "sarcastically." And you made kind of a mistake: Brawn's ticket landed on top of the Pokemon Center, but then he walked down the street to take Lotad to the Pokemon Center.

I like those words you chose for that line. I'll change it for sure.
In case you were wondering, he did actually go on top of the roof. Thats where he found Lotad! Here, its in Chapter 2:
