I think what you're trying to talk about are the yellow, red shards etc......
There is only a limited amount found mainly by diving, if i remember correctly. But i can't be more helpful, other that that.....

    Btw, there is a thread for simple questions like this at the top of the Ru/Sa forum, please use it next time. ^_^;

They can be found on certain wild pokemon, and they are rare on them. You're best bet would be to use thief on that wild pokemon a lot.

I'll go check which pokemon it were exactly.

You can get the yellow shard from Chinchous. (I found one)
And you can get a heart scale from luvdiscs but you don't want to know that

You can get shards from wild Pok?mon. Either by thieving, coveting, or taking it off once captured. There are four shards.
    Yellow Shard(Thunder Stone): Chinchou/Lanturn
    Red Shard(Fire Stone): Corsola
    Blue Shard(Water Stone): Clamperl
    Green Shard(Leaf Stone): Relicanth

Once you have the one you want, go to Route 124 and find a house there. You can trade these shards for the stone listed.

I don't think you can pick up shards with pick up but then again I have never caught a zigzagoon. Your best bet is to get a pokemon with theif and just battle these pokemon.

Zigzagoon (as well as Linoone and Phanpy) can only pick up certain items. Here's the list:
    Full Heal
    Full Restore
    Protein
    Nugget
    Super Potion
    Potion
    King's Rock
    Ultra Ball

no zigzagoon can also pick up rare candies...
you cant find shards with zigzagoon, so just use theif, itll be alot easier...
