    Hey,

I just re-obtained Pokemon Fire Red, (the only Pokemon game I have) and I was wondering if you can trade up to the new games (X and Y)? Also, I was wondering if you could trade up from the first generation? I would like to know the methods for trading up, I know there are different methods for each generation. That being said, if trading up is possible, what games with in each generation should I focus on and play in order to trade up some Pokemon from each? (red, blue, or yellow) (Gold, Silver, or Crystal) (Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald) (Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum) (Black or White). Thanks

Anything 3rd Gen and up is able to be transported to Gen V. Which consist of:

    Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald
    FireRed/LeafGreen

As for how people will go about transferring over to X & Y I have no idea and I'm sure it hasn't been announced yet.

So in short DO NOT waste your time on Gen I & II if you plan on transferring them.

Champloo basically covered everything for you: Pokemon can be traded through the Time Capsule between the 1st and second generation games, they can be transferred through the Pal Park from the 3rd to 4th gen, and then can be moved through Poke Transfer from the 4th to 5th gen, provided you have a second DS to use. There's no way to transfer Pokemon between the 2nd and 3rd gen, and we won't know if we can move our Pokemon over to X/Y until closer to release, I'd assume.

I'm going to close this thread since there isn't much left to discuss. If you have any further Pokemon game related questions that don't relate to any particular generations, please use the General Q&A Thread in Pokemon Gaming Central.

    CLOSED.
