What to Do?

Should I play Sapphire, or should I play Silver? Sapphire has the new story and such, plus the nice graphics and what not. Not to mention the new pokemon. Then Silver has the old ones, plus some new ones (from long ago, ya know) and my friends have it so we could play. None of my friends have anything past Crystal. So what to do?

Why not just play both? It's not like you're buying both, right...?

Right, but one of my friends is already good, and he won't start over, which I did. My other friend did though. So I want to try and get good at Silver quick, so me and him can battle. But then there is Sapphire, which just looks sooo cool....

    Er... you can play both at the same time; it's not hard o_o; Personally, I would play Sapphire. I preferred Sapphire to the metal generation. As cartridges get older, they can stuff up and stuff, too; my brother's Yellow just died one day... o_O; So I'd play the newer game ^^;

If you could play with your friends only if you had Silver, is that the one you would go with? or would you not be worried about that and go with Sapphire, and be solo?

I played Sapphire virtually solo; my brother had Ruby, but he's a nightmare to play with*, and he lost his cartridge anyway. I found it perfectly enjoyable. ^_^

*In other words, he's a sore loser who switches his GBA off the moment it looks like he's going to lose; also, he's obnoxious and drives an excruciatingly hard bargain. o_o

I'd say go with one thing and go with silver because the Johto region pwns, the graphics can be hard on the eyes after playing Sapphire and better do something before it goes away. Sapphire wont stop working for ages but you never know with gsc.

I'm thinking about going with Silver. And if I ever get bored/frustrated with it for the moment, then I'll switch it up and go with Sapphire for a little while. I am getting a job soon(hope being 16 and playing pokemon isn't weird) and I might buy fire red. Dunno though. (I'll get a 10% discount at Walmart too ha ha)

Don't get Fire Red. It's very boring. o_O; Of course, that's just my opinion. Why not get Emerald or something...?

Why Emerald? Isn't it just like Ruby and Sapphire? Also, I really like the orginals, so why not play them, only with Sweeeet graphics.

Er, yeah, but you can rebattle the gym leaders and stuff. I guess if you can get Sapphire for free, don't bother, though~ There's not that much of a difference [although I really can't tell you other than my own opinion on what I've heard, having never played it myself for that reason.]

I already have Sapphire, I'm just having this huge debate on which to play.. sorry about any confusion. I'm gonna look up some stuff about FireRed/LeafGreen though, it is a tempting offer...

Then go play Sapphire! XD That way, if it's already yours, it's safe and secure =3

I personally loved Leaf Green. It had a nostalgic, pleasantly familiar concept...if you don't like repeating things, though, think it over carefully; Leaf Green+ Fire Red DO have some new attributes, albeit not entirely significant. ^_^

It's only weird if you allow it to be. I am a little bit older than you and I still enjoy playing Pokemon with my three boys.

If you do have enough to buy a game, I HIGHLY suggest Emerald. It is to Ruby/Sapphire what FireRed/LeafGreen is to Red/Blue/Yellow. Same overall concept, but just A LOT better. The Battle Frontier alone makes it worth it. Plus, you cannot complete your Pokedex without it. There is absolutely no comparison to any of the other titles.

In my opinion Silver has a better plots, is larger, more difficult, more interesting and generally better... But on the other hand, Silver is already too old :( And for me, there's only one reason that I wouldn't play so seirius to my old cathrages. They are not compable with the new ones :( Luckily, Nintendo has already said that Diamond/Pearl will be compable with R/S/E/FR/LG. I would recommend Sapphire anyway if you're playing and want to keep the same Pokemon in your next cathrages. But if you want just ot play for fun then Silver would be ideal.

make yourself a schduele and playlike sappphire every 2 hrs, and silver every 2 hrs, that might help

aahh...schedules. i would agree with that, but after years of fighting over the computer with my brother, my mom made a computer schedule, along with a schedule for all of the other electronic devices in our house.O.O; luckily, we are now off the schedule(=DDDD) but i still have the traumatizing memories.....

OFFTOPIC: LOL! Thanks for this post. I really enjoyed it. I am currently doing the same thing with my boys. They get an hour on the computer and an hour on their GBA.

ONTOPIC: Buy Emerald. You will be glad you did.
