I realize this gen has barely started, so EVs are difficult to calculate with the new monsters (thank goodness there's only 70 of them XD) but from gen 5 and earlier, what's the most accurate IV calculator?

Also, I was under the understanding that using Rare Candies to level didn't give you as many stats as leveling through fighting does, why do guides tell you to do it this way? Is it only less of a gain because it lacks the EVs that fighting would give you on top of the levels?

Yes the only thing you are lacking from leveling with Rare Candies are the EV's you get from battling. Now with XY you never actually have to battle. You can literally hatch an egg, fully EV train the hatchling with Super Trainer and Rare Candy/Day Care level it to 100. It doesn't matter when you do your EV training now though. Ever since BW you can EV train after you hit 100.
