    I know there about stats but what do they do, and how do I choose which ones I get?
     
    Please post questions like this in the Simple Questions thread in the future.

    EVs are additional values, that apply to a Pokémon's stats. You gain them by battling certain Pokémon. Some give your Pokémon 1 point for 1 stat value, others give 2, etc.
    If your Pokémon get's 4 EVs for one stat value, that stat goes up by a point.
