    /You know hwneyou miake a page on web site. What is the difference it you use htm. or html?

    The extension doesn't matter at all. .htm or .html works the same either way. So, there is no difference.

    I believe .html has priority, though. That means if you have index.html and index.htm in the same folder, the file with the extension .html would be displayed first if you just typed the URL to that folder. ^_^;

    Oh I get it. So It will load before? Oky. Gotcha! So if you made a start page you would use .html at the end!

    That goes for index.php as well. I have a splash page called index.html, but my news page is index.php, but because of the rule, index.html appears when you go to my site *image removed* See what I mean? So you can have to index files in one folder, just remember that index.html always get priority. I wonder who wins, index.shtml or index.php? I haven't tested that out yet. Maybe .shtml wins because SSI was made before PHP. Maybe .php wins because "p" is before "s". Hmmm...

    The very first page someone sees is the index page whether it be index.html, index.htm, index.shtml, index.php, etc. I was just saying that if you have a page called index.htm and a page called index.html, the one that ends in .html would be shown first.

    But the first page has to be index.something. ^_^;

    The .htm extension is from the days of Windows 3.1 where only 3 character extensions were allowed.

    ok. now i get it! whats php=?

    i feel ancient, i used .htm cause it was shorter to type than .html *shruggs*

    my server doesn't show index.htm =-=;; so i have to rename index.htm to index.html

    i think it varies per server. and .shtml i don't know if that's neccesary because now .htaccess codes can let .htm and .html have ssi.

    PHP is similar to frames but less evil, less scrolly, and less hassle. It places content in the laoyut... or you can make it set the layout on the content =p Confusing though

    And also 2x easy to update layouts I guess...
