Is there any differences in damages when you attack an opponents Pokemon with the same moves in LAN link battling and in IRC and metagame, etc? :paranoid:

Netbattle, IRCbot (or whatever it's called), and Shoddybattle are all coded explicitly to emulate a regular Pokemon battle. Of course there isn't a difference in damage.

Also, why do I get the feeling that you have no idea what half of those terms mean?

What's an AR? Could you explain, pretty please?

AR = Action Replay. It's an external device made for a number of consoles/ handhelds that allow you to cheat in games.

    Ugh!

Excuse me, I know what those terms mean.

Go see Smogon.com and you'll see an example of a metagame. I'm a member there.

    ...

Either your grammar is really bad and you're really good at hiding it, or you're trying to cover yourself up.

Also, I said 'define', not 'give me the URL to a well known site so I can see an example'.

    Fine

    ...

Either your grammar is really bad and you're really good at hiding it, or you're trying to cover yourself up.

Also, I said 'define', not 'give me the URL to a well known site so I can see an example'.

My grammar? Boy, I'm not writing a book here, it doesn't have to be perfect. Read my sig, I'm just close to perfect. It's like texting (SMS) with your mobile phone, it doesn't have to have perfect grammar. Likewise, whether or not I make a typo, I don't really mind because I just press away with the keyboard. And, pretty much everyone understands my grammar here, mister.

And, about the metagame definition, I don't need to explain it because that's what common sense is for. That's why I referred you to Smogon.com, so that you'll see proper examples. It's like when your younger brother asks you what an operator is. You know pretty well what that is, so better point him to the dictionary so that he can see a better and correcy example of what an operator is.

But for your conveniece, good sir, here's a definition: Metagaming is a broad term usually used to define any strategy, action or method used in a game which transcends a prescribed ruleset, uses external factors to affect the game, or goes beyond the supposed limits or environment set by the game. In other words, sometimes using out-of-game information to affect one's in-game decisions.

Yes, I copy+pasted that because I knew that's what best would convey the definition to you. Got it?

    You're welcome.

My grammar? Boy, I'm not writing a book here, it doesn't have to be perfect.

That was an 'either-or' statement. I didn't say you had bad grammar, but it was certainly a possibility. Also, nothing less than absolute perfection is demanded from the internet. >:(

Read my sig, I'm just close to perfect.

    Haha, no.

And, about the metagame definition, I don't need to explain it because that's what common sense is for.

    Clever rebuttal.

That's why I referred you to Smogon.com, so that you'll see proper examples.

You can't just have 'examples' of a metagame. Metagames don't work that way.

It's like when your younger brother asks you what an operator is. You know pretty well what that is, so better point him to the dictionary so that he can see a better and correcy example of what an operator is.

Why would you do that? If you know what an operator is, wouldn't it be better to just tell him, rather than making him look it up himself?

But for your conveniece, good sir, here's a definition: Metagaming is a broad term usually used to define any strategy, action or method used in a game which transcends a prescribed ruleset, uses external factors to affect the game, or goes beyond the supposed limits or environment set by the game. In other words, sometimes using out-of-game information to affect one's in-game decisions.

Yes, I copy+pasted that because I knew that's what best would convey the definition to you. Got it?

Oh no, I already know what a metagame is. I was asking if you knew what it is. Given that you copy+pasted the definition (most likely without reading it), it looks like you don't. If you did, you wouldn't have mentioned 'metagame' alongside Shoddy Battle and NetBattle in your thread title. In fact, most of those terms seem out of place.

*LAN Link: The hell? The DS doesn't use LAN. LAN refers to linking computers via ethernet cables (And yes, I know you can also link consoles and other things via this).
*GBA Link: Okay, who uses the GBA anymore?
*DS Link: Fine, but the DS uses Wireless communications/ WiFi.
*IRC: IRC? You mean Internet Relay Chat, the chat program? How does that have anything to do with battling? Unless you meant DPBot, the IRC battling client.
*Metagame: The metagame is just the pool of strategies and Pokemon used in battling. How the hell does that have anything to do with damage?
*Net Battling: Fine, but it's called NetBattle, first off, and it's for 3rd gen.

    You're welcome.

    I didn't thank you. >:(

    Oh, please!

That was an 'either-or' statement. I didn't say you had bad grammar, but it was certainly a possibility. Also, nothing less than absolute perfection is demanded from the internet. >:(

Oh, really? Nothing less than absolute perfection? Does that include your name (not your real one) "airconditioning" which is supposed to be a proper noun and thus, should start with a capital (a big) letter? Perfect.

    Haha, no.

Ummm...that was just a catch phrase. Just added it for effect, genius.

    Clever rebuttal.

Are we in a debate here? This is an open forum. And even if we were in a debate, a rebuttal wouldn't be in the early parts of it. Not to mention, it's too short for a rebuttal. Didn't notice that?

You can't just have 'examples' of a metagame. Metagames don't work that way.

Isn't Nomic (Go, look it up) an example of a metagame? Oh, wait! How about Magic: The Gathering? Hmmm...how about RPGs? Hey! Wait a second! Isn't Pokemon an RPG??

Why would you do that? If you know what an operator is, wouldn't it be better to just tell him, rather than making him look it up himself?

Why would you send your child to college when you can teach him/her everything that he/she would need in life yourself at home?

Oh no, I already know what a metagame is. I was asking if you knew what it is. Given that you copy+pasted the definition (most likely without reading it), it looks like you don't. If you did, you wouldn't have mentioned 'metagame' alongside Shoddy Battle and NetBattle in your thread title. In fact, most of those terms seem out of place.

Well, big duh, I posted the definition so that I won't just answer "Yes, I know" and wait for your next post that would be a "OK, define it". And, ummm...big duh, how in the world would I have been able to copy+paste it if I didn't read it? Clearly, it's just a paragraph long, so it's pretty obvious that I completely read it in seconds. Oh, not to mention that it's just right in front of me, so reading it really isn't a problem, boy.

What's wrong with placing metagame on the Title line? Is it (Pokemon) not a metagame? And I did ask for the differences and did not ask a "identify which doesn't belong to the group" question.

*LAN Link: The hell? The DS doesn't use LAN. LAN refers to linking computers via ethernet cables (And yes, I know you can also link consoles and other things via this).

Who says it was the DS that I was referring to? Couldn't I use a GBA Emulator on a computer and have a LAN with another computer for a battle? Look at the title. IT says "LAN link/GBA link/DS link/IRC/metagame/net battling". Every "/" sign that is seen there is clearly used as a division or as an "and". So, see here... "LAN link" and then the "/" is seen after it...so it must be separate from DS and GBA. You didn't notice that? So, this LAN, if you used your common sense, would be very obviously be referring to the second sentence of this paragraph. Look it up, honey.

*GBA Link: Okay, who uses the GBA anymore?

Other than me, a lot of people still do. Like, if you've bought a GBA and a cartridge, you might as well use it than just store it away in a box somewhere for the DS.

*DS Link: Fine, but the DS uses Wireless communications/ WiFi.

    Ya, that's what I meant.

*IRC: IRC? You mean Internet Relay Chat, the chat program? How does that have anything to do with battling? Unless you meant DPBot, the IRC battling client.

Ya, again, that's what I meant. Can't you see on the title line that "LAN link/GBA link/DS link/IRC/metagame/net" is under the category of battling on that line?

*Metagame: The metagame is just the pool of strategies and Pokemon used in battling. How the hell does that have anything to do with damage?

"Damage" is just one of my examples of a possible difference.

*Net Battling: Fine, but it's called NetBattle, first off, and it's for 3rd gen.

Battling is the present participle of Battle. Just do the math.

    I didn't thank you. >:(

You should. I may be the first hot woman that actually replied back at you. It's just too bad, it's on the internet and not personally.

And, oh... I didn't fail to notice your hostility over me mr airconditioning. Where's this going to?

Oh noes, I've been found out.

Isn't Nomic (Go, look it up) an example of a metagame? Oh, wait! How about Magic: The Gathering? Hmmm...how about RPGs? Hey! Wait a second! Isn't Pokemon an RPG??

Those aren't metagames. Nomic is a ruleset for a game, and Magic is a TCG.

Why would you send your child to college when you can teach him/her everything that he/she would need in life yourself at home?

There's a slight difference between 'answering a simple question' and 'teaching college level subjects'.

What's wrong with placing metagame on the Title line? Is it not a metagame? And I did ask for the differences and did not ask a "identify which doesn't belong to the group" question.

First, it's pretty easy to copy-paste without reading, especially walls of text. But that's irrelevant.

It's not that metagame was placed in the title line, it's that it was placed there seemingly hapahazardly among a bunch of other terms that are pretty much irrelevant to it (in the context of the thread title).

Who says it was te DS that I was referring to? Couldn't I use a GBA Emulator on a computer and have a LAN with another computer for a battle?

That's completely retarded, though. In addition, it uses the exact same system as a regular GBA Link, because that's what it's supposed to emulate.

    Fine, but it's still retarded.

Ya, again, that's what I meant. Can't you see on the title line that "LAN link/GBA link/DS link/IRC/metagame/net" is under the category of battling on that line?

Then... maybe you should point that out? I understand that it makes you feel good about yourself to say other people should 'use their common sense', but it makes you look stupid if people really think you mean IRC. =/

"Damage" is just one of my examples of a possible difference.

Fine. What does metagame have to do with any other possibly difference?

Battling is the present participle of Battle. Just do the math.

No, the name of the program is NetBattle. Not NetBattling, NetBattle. It doesn't have a present tense.

You should. I maybe the first hot woman that actually replied back to you. It's just too bad, it's on the internet and not in real life.

You're also a thirteen-year old attention whore. Sorry, not my type. =/

And, oh... I didn't fail to notice your hostility over me mr airconditioning. Where's this going to?

To the Trash Bin, most likely...

    Hostile...

It was just an anology. Don't take it literally. Duh!

First, it's pretty easy to copy-paste without reading, especially walls of text. But that's irrelevant.

    Well, I'm different; I actually read what I copy+paste.

It's not that metagame was placed in the title line, it's that it was placed there seemingly hapahazardly among a bunch of other terms that are pretty much irrelevant to it (in the context of the thread title).

So what? I asked what's the difference anyways.

That's completely retarded, though. In addition, it uses the exact same system as a regular GBA Link, because that's what it's supposed to emulate.
What's wrong with using a computer as an emulator? I bet a lot of people use emulators of GBA and/or DS.

    Fine, but it's still retarded.

No it's not! Why would it be? I mean, what's wrong with it?

No, it doesn't make me feel good. But I think it's already clear that by "IRC", I meant, the IRC battling thingy. That's why I thought you already understood that.

Fine. What does metagame have to do with any other possibly difference?

It's just my guess that it might be a possible difference. It isn't really a fact. It's an example to lead the answerers on for my question because people might find the differences vague.

No, the name of the program is NetBattle. Not NetBattling, NetBattle. It doesn't have a present tense.

I know that. It's just that, when I used it, it was in that tense. I mean, would you tell your friend "Hey! I'm Netbattle right now!". It would be correct to say "Hey! I'm Netbattling right now!". Got the idea?

You're also a thirteen-year old attention whore. Sorry, not my type. =/

Excuse me, I am in fact, 18 (going 19) years of age and by the way, news flash...women will always want attention; we're high-wired that way. A child, an old woman, an emo, a hottie, or even a tomboy will want attention.

To the Trash Bin, most likely...

No, seriously, why is it that all of a sudden, just out of the blue, you suddenly went hostile on me, unprovoked?

Oh and airconditioning probably has been talked to by a girl cause he seems kinda cool. So there stick it and as the english show the finger there weh:

Yes it is. Go look it up on Wikipedia, it's on the "Examples of Metagames".

Fine, Nomic is defined at a metagame, but Magic is a TCG. The environment of Magic is the metagame.

It was just an anology. Don't take it literally. Duh!

An analogy is supposed to compare two similar thngs or situations. It's a lousy analogy if the two things/ situations are completely different.

    Well, I'm different; I actually read what I copy+paste.

You deserve a pat on the back.
    [PokeCommunity.com] What's the differences between LAN link/GBA link/DS link/IRC/metagame/net battling?

So what? I asked what's the difference anyways.

My point was that it didn't seem like you actually knew what it meant.

What's wrong with using a computer as an emulator? I bet a lot of people use emulators of GBA and/or DS.

Nothing's wrong with it, I love emulators. It's just stupid to use Netplay to play Emerald online when you already have NetBattle.

Also, nobody uses DS emulators, as they're currently not fast enough to run most games well. =/

No it's not! Why would it be? I mean, what's wrong with it?

    Refer to above post-pick.

No, it doesn't make me feel good. But I think it's already clear that by "IRC", I meant, the IRC battling thingy. That's why I thought you already understood that.

I know what it means, but that's not the point. When you're asking for help, you should always make yourself damn clear.

It's just my guess that it might be a possible difference. It isn't really a fact. It's an example to lead the answerers on for my question because people might find the differences vague.

    ... Wait, what?

I know that. It's just that, when I used it, it was in that tense. I mean, would you tell your friend "Hey! I'm Netbattle right now!". It would be correct to say "Hey! I'm Netbattling right now!". Got the idea?

Except that's incorrect. You would say, "I'm playing NetBattle!", or "I'm on NetBattle!", or "Hey look guiz, I can do a headstand while playing NetBattle!".

Excuse me, I am in fact, 18 (going 19) years of age and by the way, news flash...women will always want attention; we're high-wired that way. A child, an old woman, an emo, a hottie, or even a tomboy will want attention.

Blanket statement. I find it hard to believe that you speak for the entire female population, considering they number in the billions.

Also, you look 13 from the picture. I thought, anyway. =/

No, seriously, why is it that all of a sudden, just out of the blue, you suddenly went hostile on me, unprovoked?

You just struck me as annoying, I guess. =/

Oh and by the way. Since I know you can't be serious, and are most likely a troll, I have one thing to say: 1/10 Nice try.

Racist in my opinion is being impatient or cruel to any specific 'group' of people. And I'm 'defending' rednecks because this little girl troll above us is contradicting herself while she insults others.
