Question: What's this about URL's?

I was trying to post an idea in the Drawing Board section, but it said I can't post URL's until I've had 15 posts. The i thought to myself, "Wait, what URL's?" so i checked my thread for any of them, but I couldn't find anything.
    It happened twice!
Is it just me, or does that thread not like me?

When the post count for your user account hits 15 (you've posted 15 times in forums that add to your post count; forums that don't will say they don't), you'll be able to post URLs. Until then, sorry.

Images also counts as URLS, so that could be the problem.

Is there a reason for having to do 15 posts before posting URL's of any kind to the site? If so I can think of one or two reason. You guys want to make sure you have good members and you are not just using the forums to trade with members. Am I right? Those are 2 reasons I can think of.:)

Try deselecting automatically parse links in text if you want to post a link to a website.

If you guys don't want members to post or adverise their web site why don't you make it a rule except through the signature onl and through the PM/VM system and anyone posting on the site in a regular post should get a warning. I can see doing it through the PM/VM system and signature and the trading center asnd posting photos. I can see doing those things but posting on the forums themselves should get a warning rather than doing 15 posts because once members get over that hertle then they will just do it anyway.:)

It already is, and is also banned in PM/VM.

Why in PM/VM? I don't see the point of banning it in PM/VM. What if you are showing someone something on another site? As long as you are not asking the member to join you can link to show them something right or is that banned too?:)

    There's a difference.

If someone asks a question, and the answer can be found with additional information on another forum, then linking to the other forum is all right.

If a member just goes to other people and say in either VM/PM "Hey, join my forum! *link*" then that's bad and the member could be banned for that.

I mean, there's been many times where I've linked to other forums in VMs to my friends, to show them something or answer a question, and that's fine by the rules. It would have been different if I had said "Hey, I found this other forum. Join it!"

It depends on the purpose behind the linking. Additional information/to share something between friends = good idea. Linking just to get new members = bad idea.

Oh ok. I am familiar with this rule then as I visit 2 other sites as well too. Just wanted to make sure it was basically close to the rule I am used to. Thanks.:)
