The first generation starter trio is my favorite.
Especially their second evolutions- Ivysaur, Wartortle, and Charmeleon.
 
My three ravorite trios are:

Charizard, Venasaur, and Blastoise
Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos
Entei, Raikou, and Suicune
 
Umbreon,Vaporeon,and Glacieon
