When do you know if you have a shiny Mawile or Absol?

    Don't seem to see any info on this. Does the shiny first appear in the overworld sprite when the egg hatches? When you click on the raid and the Pokemon does it little attack animation? Or does it appear normal until the bonus challenge when you catch it?

    I've skipped a few Mawile raids because I think it's the second one. But am worried it's the third scenario.

    It'll appear as a normal Mawile until the bonus challenge begins - unfortunately there's no way to know until then :( I believe it's estimated at a 1/16 chance of being shiny so I'd definitely try to mass up some Mawile raids before she goes.
     
    Guess I won't be able to get an Absol until they make them in the wild.
