When making a fan game...

Thats not entirely true, I do listen to criticism. I just wont change my entire game because of it, especially if I like something and dont see a problem with the way things are. I have the fourth gen indoor tiles. I dont like to use them cause what I have works for me. Some of you dont like it I understand that, but I like it you need to understand that as the creator its my choice if it changes. I like pokemon I like creating games, but I also like new things and to be different. I see things for more than what they are, I look at a glass half full/half empty and wonder did some drink half or pour it halfway, I also think why only half was there some reason for half? Then I think what if the top was smaller then grew a little. Nothing to me is what it seems, so when I create a pokemon fan game I take this approach and wonder how can I create a fun and exciting experience while trying to keep the feel and fun of pokemon. I also create things on the go as i'm really good at it. As for my maps I created every as I went along changing and trying new things, and now half my region fits perfectly together, I have no town map made I have no clue what my next town will look like I just create as I go and so far it works.

Just because I make an excuse for criticism doesn't mean I didn't listen and change something just means I wanted you to know why it was the way it was.

I'm not looking to gain on fans... that's not how making a game works... We are making our game, got a team of a dozen active persons and are on a good way to finish this game (which is in itself an achievement compared to here). I'm only registered here to ask for help about the starter's kit and I'm astonished at how 90% of the questions would be solved by someone who has any knowledge of programming at all, but that's another issue. We already got an interesting and active fanbase, that's way better than this one.

And right there you lost every ounce of possible respect I could have had for you. You, and others who join communities just for their own purposes and don't contribute anything of their own, are what ruin communities like this.

Do you really think this is a like the only place on the internet where there are pokemon fans?

I am well aware that there exists a place beyond this one website, this just happens to be one of my preferred haunts.

Even though that sure is the place where there are the most annoying kids complaining and not be able to do anything much than a let's play (including you)

I haven't a clue what you were trying to say there... it was either a statement... an insult... or something else. :\

You might want to try reading through your posts prior to slapping them up there for all to read.

>Be sure to avoid those off fans, though... they can be quite a pain.
I... don't even know if it's supposed to be ironic or not

I was mocking your terrible grammar, I assumed that they had mockery wherever it is you come from.

So... in summary: You just wish that the glass would get the hell away?

It's not my fault this "community" is composed of mostly 13 years old that don't even know how to program and want to make their OWN game... I'm just here asking for help... do you see many people from this "community" actively helping the others?
This community isn't a hippie spot, open your eyes, everyone IS asking for help / infos / sprites

Yes, but at least they have the courtesy to show what they're doing with said help.

And the 'core' members of the community are 16+, if you'd care to look around at the major projects and who the team members are.

One more thing, I guess I'll have a completed sloppy unprofessional game, in a few months. Atleast i've done what most haven't that is complete my game.

I'd rather have a completed pice of crap than an unfinished beautiful game.

While I've read over some other points made in this topic, this is one I feel strongly against. While I agree that the main problem around here is the lack of actual finished projects, I don't you should release your game to the public if you know yourself that it isn't of good quality.

Pokémon Raptor is, as far as I know, the only 'finished' game to come out of Pokécommunity. Unfortunately, this 'completed' game is absolutely riddled with bugs, script errors and woeful dialogue. See, a lot of people are just happy to play a completed game, but given the state the game is in, I don't feel inclined to even download it.

One thing that I disagree with is your point about the storylines. Fangame makers create storylines because they don't have to be restricted by rating laws and having the game be played by 8 year olds. With an older audience, a developer has the freedom to create games that are focused on plot and delve into more mature subjects, which all in all makes for a more interesting game in my opinion.

The reason people criticize you on having mixed graphics is simply because they look really bad together. I don't really know how you can think they even work together at all?

First thing people look for is nice graphics, if you have that, they'll be more willing to read the story and features list. And become a fan, which leads to downloads.

If you mix your graphics together and make it look like an 8 year old did it, then your really dettering downloaders don't ya think? It's a fact. It kinda goes along with what mrchewy said... If the game is completed, cool, but if it doesn't look that great, then who's going to play it?

I feel sorry for KingCharizard. He can't make a post in this section without getting it locked.
I'm sorry I have to lock it, but I don't like those posts that are on the first page between Yuoaman.

You posted a thread about an opinion and I feel sorry you could not have a true discussion on it.

Unfortunately it shows you the nature of our section. Everyone is here for the same reason (to showcase a game and/or to show support) but it seems unless your posting a positive comment, it's seen as an insult.

Lately (well for the past year or so), it feels like people just want their ego inflated and that the person with the biggest ego is the king of the jungle here. What a shame.

In a section where we are supposed to help each other in the development of our games by our opinions, this thread is proof- if you got an opinion, keep it to yourself.

I'm sorry if you think that me closing the thread is a cop out (it is really lol) but people shouldn't have to come online and have fights with other members. We put up with enough sh!!t in our personal lives. We don't need that online- and certainly not in this section.

Also a word to any of the members involved in this thread, if you were offended by some of the earlier posts or comments by a member. Send me a PM and I'll gladly try to sort things out.
