How can anyone even think with all of this damned noise? Its enough to bear the fangirls and boys screaming from every angle, but the shrill shriek of the announcer every time a move is made is just appalling. Unless the audience is blind, I'm quite sure they can see my Houndoom using Dark Pulse, and unless they're idiots (which, I've gathered, most of them probably were) they can tell when a Pokemon is weak. This had better be worth it, Giovanni, or else you'll be getting quite a mouthful.
Now what have we here...
Aza snapped himself back into reality as his opponent chose his final Pokemon. His Houndoom was standing tall after the confrontation with the opponent's Heracross... the thing never had a chance. It was all too easy from Aza's angle; catch it off guard with Hidden Power Flying and pound it into the ground with Fire Blast. Then again a rock type fielding wasn't exactly the best for a Pokemon like Heracross to navigate, so it was too soon to call the match.
"Try this on for size!" The trainer called, a pokeball spiraling onto the field. "Come on out, Onix!"
The loud roar of the stone Pokemon was soon drowned out by many fans, causing Aza to roll his eyes. How annoying. However, he could not risk to be distracted right now... Onix had the advantage here on type and fielding, so it was best to stay defensive for the time being. The opponent would probably try a ground or rock attack right off the bat in hopes of knocking Houndoom senseless, so...
"Houndoom, defense! Perch on the rock spire! Use Nasty Plot."
"Doom!" The Pokemon called, springing up onto a rock peak. He started down at Onix, rubbing his front paws together, a devious grin on his maw.
Aza chuckled slightly at the Nasty Plot, full knowing if he got at least two more into this round, a Fire Blast would do some serious damage even to a rock type like Onix. Turning his focus onto the Onix ahead of him, he tilted his head slightly and watched.
"That won't do you any good!" The trainer laughed, pointing at the Houndoom. "Go Onix, rock smash the spire! Send Houndoom sprawling!"
Onix roared in compliance, swinging its tail around in an arc to smash the perch Houndoom sat upon. However, being so bulky, it was slow and easily avoidable; Houndoom leaped over the incoming tail and onto a nearby rock perch.
"Nasty Plot!" Commanded Aza, smirking.
Houndoom once more rubbed the pads of his paws together, a dark glint forming in his eyes. Roaring out, he stared Onix down, feeling the power surge through him. His paws gripped the stone tightly, anticipating another attack.
It came. "Rock slide, Onix! Bury it!" Onix turned round and charged into the spire, its body rumbling up the mass towards Houndoom, its mouth agape with a ferocious bellow.
"Nasty Plot and jump!" Aza called, flashing his hand into the sky.
"Doo!" Houndoom replied, quickly rubbing its paws together, not daunted at all by the large mass careening towards him. He jumped at the last second as Onix reached him, both of them flying up into the sky.
"Come down on its head and Fire Blast!" Aza commanded, grinning widely. With this much special attack power boosted and at such a close range...
Houndoom cried out in glee at the command, coming in for a landing on Onix's nose. He skid to a halt just before its eyes, flashing it a toothy smile before unleashing a close range, powered up Fire Blast. The blow landed a direct hit between the eyes, sending Onix flying backwards from the whiplash. As it skid across the ground, Houndoom rode upon its nose, riding the field. Onix slammed into the opponent's stage, sending the other trainer for a bumpy ride.
Houndoom leapt up onto the trainer's podium and called into the sky, a cry of victory, letting a spew of flame pour out of its maw into the air. The audience went wild at the display, causing Aza to sigh. He knew full well the Onix may have enough strength to fathom another attack, so now was not the time to be celebrating.
"Center!" Aza commanded, and Houndoom immediately stopped his act and darted back in front of his master, eyes alert and ready.
The Onix rumbled and slowly rose, a gasp being drawn out of the crowd. It turned towards Aza and Houndoom, a dark, seared scar flashing hot red upon its forehead. It bellowed defiantly before crumbling back to the ground, its trainer rushing out to it.
"Onix! Are you okay?" he crooned to the rock snake, gently rubbing its nose. The bulky Pokemon mumbled its pain, refusing to open its eyes.
With a cynical smirk on his face, Aza nodded when the announcer called the match. He snapped his fingers and Houndoom reported to his side immediately, at attention. Giving him a nod, Aza returned him to his pokeball.
That wasn't too bad. Although that victory dance could of cost him. I'll have to rethink my next training exercise... my Pokemon are becoming too independent.
