Ok so recently i got hooked on Pokemon after i picked up my brothers old gameboy pocket and Pokemon yellow. I bought Pokemon black. Now i want to buy another game, one that can be played on a ds (e.g ds and gameboy advanced games).

The list of handheld pokemon games are:
    GameBoy Color

Red, Blue, Green (JA, only) - September 30, 1998
    Yellow - October 19, 1999
    Gold & Silver - October 15, 2000
    Crystal - July 29, 2001
    GameBoy Advanced

    Ruby & Sapphire - March 17, 2003
    LeafGreen and FireRed - September 7, 2004
    Emerald - May 1, 2005
    Nintendo DS

    Diamond & Pearl - April 22, 2007
    Platinum - March 22, 2009
    HeartGold & SoulSilver - March 14, 2010
    Black & White - March 6th, 2011

I guess i could buy a gameboy color game for my brothers gameboy pocket, but i like the trading/poketransfer features available on only ones playable on ds. So i like the firered/leafgreen because of the lengendary dogs ( suicune, entei, and raikou), i like emerald for rayquaza, but i looove soul silver because it has the possibility of catching practically every significant legendary pokemon ever (although you would need to do a couple of valuable trades to pull it off). any input is really appreciated, what you think of the games, which ones you have, which ones you prefer, etc. Ill be ordering off amazon, and the prices a pretty good. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me which one i should get thanks so so so so so much

Well, it's your choice to make. If I had to recommend a game based on what you've said though, SoulSilver would be the one to choose.
    My reasons being:
--It's relatively new so a lot of people still play it/trade/battle competitively.
--The Legendary Dogs are all available.
--A nostalgic, yet somewhat new feel to it.
    --Travel through two regions.
--Up-to-date and nice features (running shoes without holding B, connecting with PokéWalker, etc.).
    --Pretty good graphics.
--Your Pokémon follow you (Just like in Yellow)

    Firstly...
So i like the firered/leafgreen because of the lengendary dogs ( suicune, entei, and raikou)
Note that in FR/LG you can only get one of the legendary dogs in each full playthrough - ie you have to restart and choose a different starter to be able to get another one. If you care about stats as well there's a glitch which sadly means that the legendary dog's stats are actually far worse than normal (as in, they're not far off from being as bad as possible too... something which isn't the case for any other games.

Anyways, posting this in the 4th gen section section will invariably get you more opinions towards HGSS/DPPt. =p Not sur why you postd multiple versions of this thread either - one is enough. So I'll close this but before that I would personally advise though, given on a few factors, to go for Platinum/HGSS.

Why not FRLG? Because as you've played Yellow you're getting pretty much the same thing only without glitches/updated graphics/no Pikachu following you/a few other things... like the Sevii islands which offer only a short extension to gameplay imo so if you played Yellow recently, it may feel repetitive for you. RSE? Emerald is a good game, but given the chance (only a possibility mind you, but still one considered quite possible by people given Game Freak's tendency to do remakes) they will remake RSE in 2-3 years for this gen maybe it's best to wait and see on that front.

You don't want to get Diamond or Pearl because although they aren't bad, why get those when you have the updated version of those two in Platinum with some issues fixed (e.g. slow surfing speeds) and additions (extended storyline/battle frontier)? So it's Platinum, or HG/SS.

Personally HG/SS is the better but each to their own. In terms of things though; Platinum has one region, battle frontier, super contests, a safari zone, off the top of my head 11 legendaries to catch (not including past events), gym leader rematches. Note you miss out on a game corner minigame if you get the European version. HGSS has two regions (so 16 gyms, not 8, 2nd region being Kanto), battle frontier, gym leader rematches, Pokeathlon, Safari Zone also 11 legendaries (not including events/trading for two more), and comes with the Pokewalker as well (a neat gadget imo).

If anything, both are good choices but that's enough for you to go on I suspect. ;p As said, closed. If you do have any other questions please ask them in the Help thread sticky at the top of this section.

Oh, and lastly - if ordering GBA games online, be careful. Often you get fakes (they'll work for the most part but... not the real thing and the save file can be wiped if trying to trade to other legit games) with the GBA ones. I guess it also applies to DS games but it's less of an occurrence to my knowledge (and say if you want HGSS and it comes with the Pokewalker it will be very unlikely to be fake). Go for stuff in the official box too if you can rather than 2nd hand.
