So, I was wondering which one would work better? I used to play competitive for a long while, and I am now buying a new deck to compete again. Opinions on which one I should go with? I have no idea, atm I am thinking of going with the first one, as it should be able to eat mirrors, and is a better match up against DarkGrab and Stage 2's.

You should probably have posted this in the deck building section. Either way both of these decks would have issues with.

[PokeCommunity.com] Which one I should go with? (Opinions needed)

Basically its immune to any basic pokemon. Ex or otherwise. Sure you have G booster, but if the deck has 2 or more of these, you will most likely lose. Since Genesect will OHKO if they discard a fire energy.

As for the decks in general. I feel like Virizion Genesect is pretty fine on its own, then tech in additional attackers. As for Lugia, i feel like its better to have a deck focus around lugia rather than tossing it in. Lugia could probably be the main strategy and Genesect be a tech, just so you can Red Signal.

Either way I have been thinking about VirGen recently, with the release of pyroar in the future. A deck has been bouncing around in my brain. Mostly just the pokemon line but i could probably churn out a whole deck list.

    Pokemon:
    3 Virizion Ex
    3 Genesect Ex
    2 Tropius
    Spoiler:

    2-2 Abomasnow
    Spoiler:

Tropius helps with early/late game draw and a non ex attacker for pokemon like Yveltal and Mewtwo. Other other stuff that stack energy. It also is weak to electric and not fire. Giving you options vs those decks.

Abomasnow is a water type that uses grass energy. Perfect for taking out fire types while not having to worry about energy. It's attack confuses both pokemon, but since Virizion is also in the deck it wont have to worry about it. With a silver bangle it can OHKO even Mega Charizard. The fire one at least.

Either way fire pokemon are sure to be popular in the next set with the release of stuff like flame torch and black smith. So VirGen is going to need an answer to them. I feel like Abomasnow could possibly be a decent tech for such things. Since it can both manage to OHKO all fire type pokemon, and still be useful against other with its ability to confuse.

I thank you for a very detailed reply.

I've come up with the following:

    Pokemon – 12

    3 Virizon EX
    3 Genesect EX
    2-2 Abomasnow
    1 Bouffalant DRX
    1 Mr. Mime PLF

    Trainers - 34

    3 Professor Juniper
    4 N
    4 Skyla
    4 Shadow Triad

    3 Ultra Ball
    2 Colress Machine
    3 Switch
    3 Tool Scrapper
    4 Hypnotoxic Laser
    1 Super Rod
    1 G-Booster

    2 Virbank City Gym

    Energy – 14

    10 Grass
    4 Plasma

I guess this could do quite fine, I decided to keep Bouff and Mime though, as I think they fit better to the meta here.

3 tool scrappers is a bit much. 4 Shadow Triad is also too much.

You are going to need muscle bands for abomasnow and any attacker in general. It also makes the math much better for virizion/genesect. Attach a muscle band to either of them, and together they hit for 170. Turn 2 attack with Virizion with muscle band for 70. Turn 3 attack with Genesect for 100 more and that KO a majority of the metagame. Though certain pokemon with 180+ will still be out of reach. Also with a muscle band. Abomasnow can hit for 100 damage. Which will OHKO the pesky safeguard pokemon, sigilyph and suicune that will otherwise take 2 hits from everything else in your deck. It also in turn allows you to OHKO the fire type EXs, which are also out of reach without it.

You are also going to probably want 1 Plasma Ball. Just to grab Genesect without requiring discard.

    My suggestion would be.

    -1 Tool Scrapper
    -2 Shadow Triad
    -1 Ultra Ball

    +1 Juniper
    +2 Muscle Band
    +1 Plasma Ball
