Emerald won the tournament at the end of the Emerald arc, when all of the Dex Holders participated. The way you can see they were lined up, it looks like Emerald would have faced off against Red. If he beat the Battler-also the Pokemon League Champion-how much stronger can you get?

Although I love Gold more then anyone. XDD
