You're right on Vulpix! Altaria is a little too big (no offense) For fish, Goldeen would be fine.

Anyone ever considered Persian? Once it's tamed... you're in the world of luxury (just look at Giovanni man...) However taming it is one big obstacle.

Goldeen would not make a good pet. It's pokedex entry says that if it's ever in an aquarium or some kind of captivity, it will shatter even the thickest glass with it's horn. Hence, Goldeen would not want to be in an aquarium. Maybe Remoraid would be a better pet.

I think that Growlithe and Skitty would be common pets. Also, Linoone or Furret. Vulpix, Swablu, and Persian would be more exotic-type pets and I think less people would have them.

But, Pokemon aren't really pets. I'm sure lots of people would have captured Pokemon that they let out of their pokeballs and use as pets.

Also, Vulpix is sweet and warm too ^^
