I love turtwig, hate grotle, kinda like torterra.
Love piplup, hate prinplup, love empoleon.
hate chimpchar, love monferno, hate infernape.

Which should I pick? I know I'm catching a shinx and a starly as soon as I see one, so I know I'll have pokemon I love in my team either way lol.(LOVE starly for some reason ><)

the answer is simple, just choose the one you like most!!!, and then get someone to trade you the others, thats what i did.

They all have there goods and bads.

Turtwig-Has pretty good defence and can take lots of hits throughout the game. It's evolution, Grotle, is nothing special, but Torterra is a good grass type. It also has a secondary type which is ground, which means it can learn earthquake. With earthquake, you can easily take out fire types.

Piplup-A good all around pokemon. Has equal attack and defence. It is also a good type for taking out the first gym leader, Roark, which can be hard for a begginer. Alot of people do not like it's evolution, Prinplup, and it's like grotle, nothing special. But Empolian is a good all-around pokemon. It can learn many powerful water moves, and it is also part steel.

Chimchar-Alot of people don't like Chimchar, but I chose him, and he can learn flame wheel at lvl 12, so he is not that bad of a choice. His evolution, Monferno, is part fighting and learns mach punch as soon as he evolves, plus he evolves very early. This can be a good choice for the first gym. His final evolution, Infernape, is nothing THAT special but it has high attack, so you can always take advantage of that.

Thats my whole description of the starters. I like Turtwig the best though.

Infernape is the best, in my opinion. He's got great sweeping capabilities, and he outspeeds a large amouont of OU Pokemon from my experience.

I guess you could do a Curse set on Torterra, since that's the only option I find usable with him... And I have no really good ideas for Empoleon... His typing's fine, but I find his move pool to be a bit lacking...

A Turtwig and Starly will serve you good for the whole game until you get to the Ice Gym. Although Empoleon hands the elite 4 with Grass Knot, Surf, Ice Beam, and Drill Peck.

well, I also want to get a shinxs with that starly. but only those 2 pokemon? wow.

And I think I know which I want now.

...unless someone can educate me more of the pokemon.
I got some really good info so far though, especailly from poisonownzyou(nice work, lol ^_^). However, which pokemon is more worthwhile? which one is the easiest to train, but is it worth it?Does its attack power lack for that reason?Which pokemon has more hp, but is it's defense weak for that reason too?

I like too have a pokemon that has great stats, and has a all out pretty good move pool. Thats why I like to think very carefully about a pokemon before I want to catch it, I need to know if it's good or not.

I went with Chimchar and am very, very pleased that I did so.

He's the stronger of the 3 when it comes to Gym battles, and when it comes to rival battles as you can teach it Grass Knot. It also becomes part fighting-type which is very useful in the game. It's attack is also pretty high

I would choose a Chimchar. In my game, I started with Turtwig, but my sister gave me a Chimchar and used both through the game.

I beg to differ, I solo'd all the 8 gym's with my empoleon.
So, Really I Would Choose piplup and if not, Ill give you one anyway

I also chose Piplup and solo'd all the gyms but the ice (7th) I used my Noctowl too. XD For Abomasnow and Snover because they're weak to flying. Empoleon has 2 weaknesses I think. Ground and Fighting, and I think that's it. Maybe rock but that doesn't matter because you won't have him by the first gym. I would choose Piplup, but it's your choice.

Im all for turtwig, grass-ground in its evos is a great combination, nuff said.

I went with Infernape, but I really should have went with Torterra. Infernape was very good, Its just after the Elite 4 I got bored with him :(

Rock/Ground Is Water Pokemon Speciallity when it Comes to Battles, They have the Advantage :D

i started one game with turtwig and one with chimchar, I liked chimchar better, but that's just my opinion....

Pick turtwig then get a starly, kadabra/alakazam, gayrados, and a bidoof/bibaril as HM slave then for the last slot just use what ever pokemon you like i had my riolu egg there while i beat the E4
