Description: I start the game off with Metagross who is pretty much one of the most common leads out there on the ladder. I like Metagross as he complements my dragon Pokemon being able to take dragon and ice attacks aimed at them (them being Latias and Salamence).
Metagross starts the game off with Stealth Rock, which is a staple to this team (ensures that threats like Salamence are kept in check). After that I do whatever mainly. The smartest option for me is to switch into something that can take any attacks aimed at Metagross and threaten them as I need Metagross later into the game.
Move set choices: Metagross set is so that he has as much power a possible. I strayed away from the common set with Bullet Punch because I felt Meteor Mash was the better option due to its higher attack power, I am not killing a lot of things Bullet Punch and with Meteor Mash I can pull an early sweep which is critical as it gives Salamence a much easier time cleaning up the rest of my opponents team.
Earthquake is also an option as it complements Meteor Mash in that I have two strong attacks, with Shuca Berry Metagross is generally beating or severely weakening leads that threaten the standard Metagross. They expect this to have Occa Berry so it is great when I watch their Pokemon die.
Stealth Rock is pretty obvious and Explosion is used as a last resort against anything giving me grief, I timed Explosion on Blissey or Vaporeon is huge because it opens up my team's sweeping potential.
Item choice: Shuca Berry > Occa Berry. I have Heatran, Starmie and Latias to take fire hits aimed at Metagross an I felt that Shuca Berry was a much better option. In matches on the ladder I lost Metagross all because of that stupid berry, though at the time I didn't have a lot of Fire resists so I kept it until I "renovated" the team.
Team Work: Metagross support my Dragon Pokemon by taking ice and dragon hits. With my two steel's and two dragon's I can effectively pull "double dragon" which is huge considering the strategy is so effective.
vs. common leads.
o1. Azelf
` I normally set up rocks at the same time as he does. Even without Occa Berry I am not losing Metagross anytime soon especially to something like Azelf.
o2. Metagross
` Bit tricky as there are trick leads of Metagross out there. I really cannot do much in terms of damage if they are holding Shuca Berry, and staying in could mean I miss out on a chance to set up rocks early if Shuca Berry is not being held.
o3. Swampert
` I can stay in and set up rocks thanks to Shuca Berry. After that I can then decide which is the more suitable switch in, Latias or Celebi
o4. Tyranitar
` The best this can do is earthquake which I should be able to survive, but they normally fear bullet punch and switch giving me a free turn.
o5. Aerodactyl
` Cause of his weak defenses I Meteor Mash as he sets up and then switch out as he earthquakes.
o6. Bronzong
` I can't do anything to Bronzong, yet he can't do anything to me so we both set up at the same time and switch.
o7. Hippowdon
` We set up at the same time and I then switch into something that can take Earthquake. Exploding is out of the question.
o8. Ninjask
` Unfortunately I am not able to do much considering I lack Bullet Punch so I set up and switch out as he protects/subs.
o9. Heatran
` Tricky lead, so switching into Latias is all I can do atm.
10. Infernape
` Another tricky lead, Latias again should threaten with Surf.

Team Building Process:
-----------------------------
To come to a decision on what members I should to my team I first had to choose a Pokemon and then build my team around it, before I came to this team though I started off with the most obvious team member, Salamence.
At first I wanted to build a team centered around Salamence, so I created this move set and then built my team around it.
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*
Salamence (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
OK so now I have my central Pokemon that can deal major damage late game, so I need to build a team around, eliminating his weaknesses while supporting him.
In terms of support Starmie and Jirachi spring to mind, I used a lead Jirachi with wish support to help Salamence recover some health and then used Rapid Spin Starmie to cover Gyarados and get with of rocks, I then threw random offensive members onto the team.
Needless to say my team worked and failed at the same time, I was stuck as I didn't want to mess up the synergy my team had, so I scraped it.
I then took another approach, I decided to build a full on offensive team using powerful set up sweepers.
In this stage I revert to lurking, I go and research on offensive which lead to husk's offensive team in the RMT Archive, I studied it and then went on to building my team.
I type up a list of common leads that can set up rocks.
Ok so I have my lead not I need some offensive Pokemon. When I was researching I found saw that Gyarados was pretty popular, Gyarados helps agains't Infernape and co and can put major holes in teams, though he is weak to rocks if he can keep the tempo going then he should recover most of his health thanks to Leftovers, Mamo also absorbs electric moves aimed and Gyarados so that is cool I guess.
So what I have now is two members: Gyarados and Mamoswine:
So it is time for me to choose my mix attacker, I really hate stall and the likes so I choose MixMence as a team member. MixMence is very powerful with Draco Meteor and Outrage and can take out Zapdos, who does quite a bit of damage to Mamo and Gyara (if something stupid happens, yes it has happened).
Ok so now I have three members who can pretty much force a lot of switches can get 2 - 3 KOs when played correctly, I now need a second stat up user to further mess up my opponent's team.
I have to choose between Scizor and Lucario, they are but steel, Scizor had better attack, more bulk and is not killed by ground, so should I go with Scizor, no.
I prefer Lucario over Scizor, I am sick to death of using Scizor on every team, at first I liked but then I got bored, so yeah.
So my physical offensive core is pretty strong at the moment, now Skarmory though won't live long can be a problem for some of the party members, so I decide to go with Gengar and Azelf, both random yet effective party members.
Gengar is very unpredicable, Azelf is not prepared for nowadays, both carry explosion, both are fast, time to seal the deal.

- Gyarados being an offensive beast can crack the game open early once rocks is up.
- Mamoswine takes care of Porygon2 as well as electric attack aimed at Gyarados.

- Everyone expect Mamoswine are immune to toxic spikes
- I only have two pokemon weak to rocks.
- Everyone except Mamo are not weak to spikes, this makes switching easier.
- The offensive core is very strong when used correctly, it has not failed me yet.
- Gyarados and Mamoswine combo well together.
- On paper is looks like Gengar cause me trouble but he doesn't.
- I don't have any glaring weakness to one type, this is huge imo.
- This is pretty basic, oh well =/.
Spoiler:
Threat List
-----------------------------
This Threat List has become popular now, cool.
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Aerodactyl : A rare Pokemon to come across, meh Ice Shard and Bullet Punch kill him.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Alakazam : Not really a big problem but I need to use a lot or priority moves to take him down.
---
"image removed"Azelf : Same boat as Aerodactyl, only that he is more commonas a lead, non lead versions fall to Lucario once boosted.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Breloom : Ok so my last team had problems with this guy, I first have to get a member to sleep and then send in a member that can deal with him, Mamo should bypass Sub and the rest outspeed and kill him.
---
"image removed"Dragonite : Mix sets as well as every other set do not do much, so I rely on my superior speed and priority to kill this guy.
---
"image removed"Dugtrio : Eh well he traps anything, so after the trapped mon is gone I can pick him off with Mamo or Lucario, if he traps Lucario then he should be going down.
---
"image removed"Electivire : I tried a Electivire once, he sucked, OK so he has poor speed, I need to make sure he does not switch in to an electric attack, I noramlly play it safe though so he is going down quickly.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Empoloen : First priority is to not this set up or I am finished, in some cases Mamoswine can pick him off, but I rely on Salamence mostly to kill unboosted versions.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Flygon : Not really as annoying anymore so Ice Shard and priority should help in bringing him down.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Gengar : Scarfed version are pretty hard to beat, usually I try to get them weakned for Lucario to finish them off Bullet Punch
---
"image removed"Gyarados : Again, not as hard to kill now seeing as I run fast Pokemon but he is still a problem once he sets up, in this case I try and make sure Mamoswine can score a Endeavor and Ice Shard kill, if that fails then I alternate Intimidatesand try and score a lucky hit with Gyarados or Gengar.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Heatran : Gyarados beats everything bar Explosion, non scarfed versions fall to Azelf.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Heracross : Salamence does well against Megahorn and Close Combat attacks if scarfed, Gyarados can use him as set up baitif he switchs into the right move.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Infernape : Gyarados fears Stone Edge and Thunderpunch while Salamence fears Stone Edge and HP Ice, other than that they can beat anything else he has while Gengar resists Close Combat.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Jirachi : Scarfed versions are normally the leads, in this case, I my Mamoswine should out speed standard adamant versionsif they trick scarf on me.
---
"image removed"Jolteon : Well, Mamoswine resists his main moves, but another than that, priority should take him down.
---
"image removed"Kingdra : At first I was scared of this guy but after facing him at his best (on RD) I used Intimidates and priority to take him down.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Latias : Timid versions are a pain to beat, but I try and overwhelm Latias with Dragon and neutral attacks.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Lucario : Salamence can intimidate on him but is scared of Extremespeed/Bullet Punch, Gyarados only fears Stone Edge and the odd Thunderpunch.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Machamp : Poor speed leaves him open to Salamence, Gyarados and Azelf. Dynamic Punch confusion is the worst thing that can happen though.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Magnezone : I predicted switch into Thunderbolt using Mamoswine should be enough to beat him, he normally comes in on Lucario so I try and work around that with Close Combat and Extremespeed.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Mamoswine : A Bullet Punch from Lucario should be enough to do quite a bit of damage, I normally run into Adamant version which quickly fall to my jolly beast.
---
"image removed"Metagross : Every kind of Metagross gives my problems, I need to watch out for Agility sets or it can spell doom for me, everything else should be handled by Azelf and Salamence
---
"image removed"Porygon-Z : ?, Priority should be able to deal with scarf version, Salamence should out speed non scarfed versions.
---
"image removed"Rhyperior : Never let it set up also. A boosted Close Combat from Lucario or Bullet Punch should dent him enough, Salamence should be able to handle ones not under sub and Gyarados can do quite a bit.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Salamence : Nothing on my team really counters the DD Set. I rely on revenge killing and stuff like that to take him down. MixMence, the more common set for Salamence falls if I win the tie with my own MixMence and Lucario and Mamo should be able to pick off a weakened mence.
---
"image removed"Scizor : Salamence, Azelf and Gyarados all deal with him in some way.
---
"image removed"Starmie : I alos need to rely on Priority to deal with Starmie, if I can score a lucky Stone Edge with Gyarados well....cool.
---
"image removed"Togekiss : Mamoswine can come in on T0Wave and combat with Ice Shard, anything not hit by T-Wave should be dealing a lot of damage to Kiss.
---
"image removed"Tyranitar : Lucario should be able to beat un boosted versions (banded versions).
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Weavile : Lucario with Bullet Punchand Gyarados should be able to handle him.
---
"image removed"Yanmega : If it does not have Hypnosis (even if it does it does not hit often) priority from Mamo and Lucario ruin
Defensive Threat List:
"image removed"Blissey : The physcial threats of the team really ruin here if they are not paralyized.
---
"image removed"Bronzong : Salamence and Azelf burn him with fire attacks.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Celebi : Again, Salamence and Azelf should be able to do something to him, weakened versions fall to Gyarados.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Cresselia : She is very annoying so I have to rely on hard hitting moves to take her out.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Donphan : Ice Shard doesn't kill Salamence with Intimidate and I can kill with Draco Meteor.
---
"image removed"Forretress : Salamence with Flamethrower deals a lot to himas does Azelf.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Gliscor : Salamence with Draco Meteor deals quite a bit to him, if it lacks Stone Edge I waterfall with Gyara on a predicted Taunt.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Hippowdon : He is slow so Salamence with Draco and any other special attacker should be able to handle him.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Skarmory : Salamence kills him with Flamethrower andAzelf and Gengar kill with T-Bolt and Flamethrower.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Snorlax : Salamence, Lucario, Gyarados and random explosions are enough to take this thing down, it normally boils down to Lucario though.
---
"image removed"*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Suicune: Very annoyingto take down, Salamence can score some hits but if it rests then I am in trouble, so random explosions are used.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Swampert : Usually comes in on Salamence. Draco Meteor should take it out.
---
"image removed"Tentacruel : Semi problem as I lack ground physical moves, I guess an Outrage from Salamence can do somethingas well as Earthquake.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Vaporeon : If it has HP Electric, Salamence beats it but is wary of the odd Ice Beam.
---
*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Zapdos : Salamence KOs with Draco Meteor after SR, an Ice Shard from Mamoswine does a bit but has to watch out for Heat Wave.
-----------------------------
This Threat List has become popular now, cool.
- Green means they are not a problem for me.
- Orange means they can cause a bit of trouble.
- Red means they are very difficult to take down.

*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Skarmory : Salamence kills him with Flamethrower andAzelf and Gengar kill with T-Bolt and Flamethrower.
