Who else names their Pokemon?

I only nickname the pokemon I use in battle. If it's just something I caught to sit in my box it doesn't receive any love.

i LOVE nicknaming my pokemon

i nickname every single one of my pokemon. i agree that it does seem like having a pet when you do, it seems to create a special attachment, to me anyways. when you get a pet, like a dog for example, you don't just call it "dog", it usually has a name. and since pokemon are more intelligent than real pets, i give them nicknames :)

some of mine are totally random, some actually have meaning. like i named my luxray "Thunder" after the song by the band Boys Like Girls. it goes like this:

"Your voice was the soundtrack of my summer
Do you know youre unlike any other?
You'll always be my thunder, and I said
Your eyes are the brightest of all the colors
I dont wanna ever love another
Youll always be my thunder
So bring on the rain
And bring on the thunder"

luxray was my favorite of all the D/P pokemon so i wanted him to have a special nickname. then i named my pachirisu "Cooper" cuz i thought it was cute, my blastoise is "Tobi", my charizard is "Jchett" (pronounced "Jet"), typhlosion is "Phlair", etc, etc, etc (it goes on FOREVER). so i guess i like to change the letters so the name looks different and unique but is pronounced the same, like "Phlair" instead of "Flair", and my blaziken is "Kannon" compared to "Cannon" cuz i thought it looked cooler :)

my gengar = sausage
rotom = ENERGY!!
arcanine = GRRrRrrr
breloom = drugs
infernape = infernRAPE
bronzong = taco bell

Hehe, what a question.
I nickname EVERY pokemon original nicknames. Including Legendaries and whatnot. It's got it's advantages. It stops some people from wanting particular pokemon (my friends are very demanding) and makes them feel more real.

Here is the reason.
There are 493 SPECIES of Pokemon, not 493 individual Pokemon. It's like calling us Human, which really doesn't sound very good so I name everything. Mostly I combine 2 Synonym's with the Pokemon or legends, patterns, japanese names rarely get into my vocab.

E.G Vulpix=Neuncursa because it becomes a Ninetails, which has 9 tails and anyone touching it is cursed
E.G Delibird=Mutterkris (Mother Christmas)
E.G Raikou, Entei, Suicine (the latter 2 not caught yet): Electarade, Inferrade and Aquarade (The element mixed with Masquerade as they wear masks)

I nickname every pokemon, including legendaries. If I could, I'd nickname Pokemon they give out at events.

wow, i really like your way of naming pokemon Shiun Enshidia! i love the nicknames for raikou, entei and suicune. and your reason for naming pokemon is the same as mine, as i explained earlier.

but it seems harder for me to name legendaries, because i want the nickname to sound strong, have a meaning (refering to type, history, etc) and have a personal meaning at the same time. so it takes me longer to think of a good nickname that i like for legendaries.

in the end, it's totally worth it, and it is so much fun to name all of them. originally, i didn't, from yellow all the way through emerald i didn't nickname my pokemon, but on diamond i did. and i enjoy it so much :)
