2nd Gen who here - got all legendaries on g/s/c without hacking or cheating?

I got Daakurai at my Diamond in the first try (saved before anyway). I threw a lot of Dark Balls at it (those green balls). If I caught Daakurai in my game without a cheating machine, is it still cheating? It's like Mew in the old games, you have to do a lot of strange things to get it. In Diamond I risked my save file to get to Daakurai (because if you make the wrong number of steps through the void you can get stuck there), but I succeeded in one try to get to that island. And finally I got the Pokemon I want the most. But did I cheat when I caught it?
