Why are legends such an understatement?

In every game, once you catch a legend, the professor, or whoever you talk to is like - "Cool, nice legend, go on with your life." and nobody gives a care. This is especially true with the inclusion of every Pokemon possible following you around. An example, Cynthia. She apparently mystically knows you have an Arceus, knows the location of secret ruins, and knows how to create new-born legendary dragons, BUT DOESN'T GIVE A CARE AT ALL.

    Why does this make sense?!

    Oh, uh... good point

I always thought that aswell xD

It doesn't make sense, you should be like, an uber trainer when you get one, in game that is.

This really doesn't belong in HGSS. =/ Moving over to General Pokémon Games.

They're envious of you. In their mind, their dark, dark mind, they want to kill you and steal all your Pokemon. Why should some punk 10 year old new trainer get a 1-in-a-kind Pokemon? They try to hide their intentions and act like they don't care. But believe me, that do care...

GameFreak probably just doesn't feel like adding in all the extra excitement.

That's a good point. Though I would probably get tired of everyone going "Oh my goodness! Is that a ______?!" *attempted thievery* every time I talked to anyone.

Along the same lines, I was always really mad in R/B/Y that no one even said "Hey, good job" after I beat the E4. ;-; All that, and not even a tiny bit of recognition outside the Hall of Fame on the computer. </3

I've noticed that as well... everyone goes about their business as usual. But if I remember correctly in D/P (not platinum) there was one Psychic in Victory road who, when after you fought them, was amazed that you encountered a legendary, because they have this strange ability to see past events or something (if I'm crazy and making this up ignore it)

Also... has anyone thought about this:

Aside from secret/roaming legendaries... Legendaries are some of the most common pokemon in the games

For example: Ruby and Sapphire, you are forced to fight Kyogre and Groudon. If you think about it, that's a 100% encounter rate. Granted, there's only one... but you HAVE to encounter it... isn't that a bit strange too? Aren't they supposed to be impossible to find, etc.?

It would be really cool if they would just freak out when they see a one of a kind pokemon with the protagonist. But after sometime though, one may get annoyed instead of being amazed at those gestures.( For e.g. I would get really bored if they would all say: Oh! you have a super ancient ______ in your belt. or Wow! thats so cool! or You are truly a legendary pokemaster :P)

Yeah... I always wondered why the Lasses never simply screamed and ran away at the sight of my Suicune.
Game Freak would have to add a lot more scripting and boring-to-make stuff to add legendary reactions so there's your reason why they never have done so.

Isn't he in R/S (as well?)?

I would say that the people inside the games care if you have a legendary Pokemon with you or not. If you have a Mewtwo or Arceus, they won't care outside of their characteristic minds on the outside of their body, but inside their body, they do care if you have a "One in a life time chance" legendary Pokemon.

Possibly. Out of all the games... I'm the least familiar with R/S/E

As the people in the games are just characters made up of scripts for interactions with the main protagonist, they cant be having their mind of their own! How can a character, entirely made up of scripts who doesnt even have its own mind, care if we have a legendary or not?!!? Legendaries are an understatement just because nintendo didnt put those scripts required to make them an overstatement in the game.

I think it would be neat if the main recurring characters in the game (ie, your rival, the professor, maybe some gym leaders/E4, your mom) would say something different if you showed them a legendary but otherwise, it'd be far too much to add in for everyone you fight, let alone every NPC.

I do wish they'd be properly acknowledged in some way though. :(
