Why are searches capped at 150 results?

    This definitely didn't used to happen, but I just noticed that searches are capped at 150 results.

    You can see this if you try to search this forum for common words like "post" - it'll always be exactly 150 results (unless it's a rare word, in which case it might genuinely be less). Or, if you use Find All Posts on any user with more than 150 posts, it'll only give you 150 results.

    What exactly is going on with this? Is it going to be permanent?
     
    This change likely happened due to recent server issues and I believe the search function was temporarily disabled before settling on the "always 150 results" as a method to try and reduce stress on the servers.
     
    You could always use google to get millions more results.
    It did cause a lot of stress though which was why it was down a lot last month.
    It might not be permanent depending on how stable the servers will be.
